Soccer Odds - Crystal Palace vs. Tottenham Match Preview

Crystal-Palace-Vs-Tottenham-Soccer-Betting-Odds

Crystal Palace threw a bit of a wrench into the Premier League title chase when it went on the road and found a way to beat Chelsea to kick off April. Tottenham hoping that there isn't another wrench that is tossed into the mix when it visits Selhurst Park for its annual date at the Eagles.

At 3 p.m. ET, tune into NBC Sports Network for live television coverage of this English Premier League match on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Selhurst Park.

Odds Analysis

It's hard to say that Tottenham has a better team than Chelsea right now, but with the form that it's in, why not? The Spurs are pushing the Blues harder and harder as time goes on, and the only question that begs to be asked is if there's enough time left to run them down. Even on the road, Tottenham is set at -166 on the moneyline and is favored by a full goal on the Asian Handicap.

The total of 2.5 features vig of -136 on the over, and that's a sign that there could be a tremendous amount of scoring opportunities in this one.

Key Injuries

Cameron Carter-Vickers has a knee injury that kept him out of the Bournemouth match last week for Tottenham. The Spurs are also without Erik Lamela, Danny Rose, Michael Vorm and Harry Winks, but it's not as if these injuries have been hampering the club during this amazing run to back within four of the top of the table.

There's not a lot new right now on the injury front for Crystal Palace either. Scott Dann is out for another week or two after being stretchered off, ironically against Chelsea a few weeks back. James Tompkins, Papa Souare and Jonathan Benteke are all long-term injuries.

Recent Form

We all know the type of form Tottenham is in right now. The Spurs have won seven straight in the Premier League. The concern they're going to have here though, is that they were beaten and beaten relatively soundly by Chelsea at Wembley Stadium in the FA Cup semifinals by a 4-2 margin, and you have to wonder if that will take a bit out of the sails of Mauricio Pochettino's side. Remember that Chelsea plays on Tuesday, and if the Blues can get three points as they should get versus Southampton, the deficit will be back to seven, and the margin for error will be significantly smaller the rest of the way with a diminishing amount of matches remaining.

Crystal Palace still isn't completely clear from the relegation battle yet, but you get the sense with the form that it is in that this is a mid-table team, not a relegation-threatened one. Since the start of the month, the Eagles have beaten Chelsea and Liverpool on the road and topped Arsenal by a wicked 3-0 margin. Sure, the other matches were only a 3-1 loss at Southampton and a 2-2 draw against Leicester City, but it's hard to say that this is anything but an incredibly dangerous team.

Crystal Palace's defense though, has been suspect at best. The Spurs might give up a goal, or even two in this matchup on the road, but the offense with Harry Kane and Son Heung-min and Christian Eriksen is just too good to be relenting now. If Chelsea ultimately gives up any points against the Saints, look out. It could be game on the rest of the way. We don't think there's any motivational problems right now for the team in the best form in England, though.
