Odds Analysis

This match has always been fancied to be awfully close. The Blues feel like the better of the two sides, but they certainly aren't the more in form of the two. They dropped their last match at Manchester United to see a lead that was once 10 slashed to just four thanks to the fact that the Spurs have won seven matches in a row and feel absolutely unbeatable the rest of the way.

It's no wonder why the FA Cup odds are very tight here with Chelsea set at +155 against Tottenham's +170 on the moneyline. The Blues are slight favorites to advance at -130, but this is sure to be a cracker of a match regardless.

How They Got Here

It's been a rather easy four matches for Antonio Conte's side. He didn't really have to exert any force to get into the semifinals save for the fact that the Blues faced off with Manchester United at home in a gritty quarterfinal. It was a great match for the Red Devils, and they would have probably won if not for the fact that Ander Herrera was sent off thanks to two bookings. Prior to that, Chelsea dismissed Peterborough United and Brentford at home, then Wolverhampton away, and none of the three matches were ever in any serious sort of doubt.

Tottenham took a far trickier route to get into the semifinal, albeit thanks to a lot of problems of its own doing. The team drew home to Aston Villa and Wycombe in its first two rounds of this tourney. The first task was an easy 2-0 victory. The second against the Wanderers proved to be far tougher than it should have been. The Spurs picked up a 4-3 victory, but not before falling behind 2-0 and ultimately being locked in a 3-3 match before a goal in the seventh minute of stoppage time to win it and avoid a replay.

Fulham and Milwall fell quietly after that, the latter match coming in the quarters with a resounding 6-0 score line headlined by a hat trick from Son Heung-min.

Clearly, Chelsea has some problems when Eden Hazard is taken out of matches, but we aren't so sure that Tottenham has the same stopper like United has in Herrera. Man marking is something that you can bet Conte is going to be working against on the training ground this week, and that could lead to a much tighter to the vest match.

This certainly suits Chelsea quite well. The Blues would much rather create from the back going forward, and we think they're going to show a lot more creativity now in this one than they did against the Red Devils at Old Trafford. Theoretically, this is a horribly difficult fixture, but just as the Blues bucked up after losing to Crystal Palace in a bit of a freaky home loss to win 2-1 on a great day at Stamford Bridge, we think they'll bounce back from their loss at Man U and dismissed the Spurs from the FA Cup at Wembley.

FA Cup Odds: Chelsea 1, Tottenham 0
