Odds Analysis
For much of the season, it looked like AFC Bournemouth would finish in the top half of the table. The Cherries were in sixth or seventh for much of the first few months, but injuries and some problems in defense sent them to a bottom half finish. Their 65 goals allowed are the most of any team not in the bottom three, and they have won just one of their last six matches. This team has been fun to watch all year though, as the Cherries aren’t afraid to go forward. They are averaging 1.5 goals per game, and that’s the highest average of any non-Big Six club.
Spurs have performed well in the Premier League for much of the year, but they have recently hit some bumps in the road. They have lost three of their last six matches, and fortunately the three teams chasing them have not taken advantage. Tottenham are in third place and two points ahead of Chelsea, four points ahead of Arsenal, and five points ahead of Manchester United with two matches left. A home loss to West Ham last week prevented them from locking up a spot in the top four.
The first match between these two teams was a Tottenham rout. Four different Spurs scored in a 5-0 thrashing of Bournemouth on Boxing Day. That loss highlighted the Cherries’ difficulties with Big Six clubs, as they have won just once in 11 matches, and they have been outscored to 30 to 9 despite a 4-0 win over Chelsea.
Key Injuries
There have been a slew of injuries for Bournemouth this season. Junior Stanislas, Diego Rico, Charlie Daniels, Simon Francis, and Lewis Cook suffered season-ending injuries. Andrew Surman and Adam Smith may play in the season finale, but they will miss this match. Nathaniel Clyne and Dan Gosling are both doubtful.
Harry Winks is out for the rest of the season, and Harry Kane will not play in this match although he has not been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign. Serge Aurier is slated to miss this match, and Jan Vertonghen won’t play after a nasty head injury in Champions League action against Ajax. Erik Lamela has been declared doubtful.
Player to Watch
Son Heung-min notched a brace in the first meeting between these two teams, and he has been fantastic throughout the season. Son has taken on a heavier load in Kane’s absence, and he should play after sitting out the first leg of Tottenham’s Champions League clash with Ajax due to suspension.
Prop Bet – Tottenham Hotspur Over 1.5 Goals -142
I’m going a little against the grain here. This is a potential upset spot for Tottenham as this game falls between Spurs’ enormous Champions League meetings with Ajax, so Mauricio Pochettino may rest some of his usual starters here. I believe Spurs will be able to score multiple goals though as Bournemouth have not been able to slow down the best teams in England all year.

If Bournemouth were healthy, I would like their chances quite a bit, but injuries have devastated their back line. Even without their best weapons, Spurs will be too much.
English Premier League Odds: Tottenham Hotspur 2, AFC Bournemouth 1
