EPL Betting Odds – Liverpool at Watford FC Match Preview

It’s been a record-setting season for Liverpool. The Reds have already broken numerous records in their march to the Premier League title, and they are 11 games from making history. At 26-1-0, Liverpool has the best record in the history of the league through 27 matches, and the Reds are set to smash the points record of 100 that Manchester City set two years ago. Seven more victories would move Liverpool to the century mark, and the Reds have 11 games to get there. They are also closing in on becoming the third team in the history of England’s top-flight to finish a league season undefeated, so the Reds will want to keep that unbeaten streak alive when they face Watford on Saturday.

Don't miss the English Premier League action from Vicarage Road in Watford, England at 12:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, February 29, 2020. Catch every moment of the match live on NBC.

Odds Analysis

Watford is only ahead of Norwich City in the Premier League table. The Hornets are 5-9-13, and that puts them in real danger of dropping back down to Championship for the first time since the 2014-15 season. An 8-0 loss to Manchester City early on put them very underwater in terms of goal differential, so Watford would likely lose a tiebreaker to another club if the Hornets finished tied with another team.

This club hasn’t won a match since January 12, and Watford has been streaky this campaign. The Hornets won four of five matches in late December and early January, but they have now registered three losses and two draws in their last two matches. Watford was very unfortunate to suffer two of those defeats though, as Everton and Aston Villa both needed goals in the 90th minute or later to break deadlocks.

Liverpool’s only blemish this season is a road draw against Manchester United on October 20. Since that point, the Reds have won a league record 18 straight matches, and that has led to this club opening a 22-point lead on Manchester City for the Premier League title.

It hasn’t always been a cakewalk for Liverpool though. The Reds were pushed by two of the worst teams in the EPL the last three weeks. Norwich City went into Anfield and didn’t allow a goal until the 78th minute two weeks ago, and West Ham United led 2-1 midway through the second half before Mo Salah and Sadio Mane salvaged a win for Liverpool.

Key Injuries

Daryl Janmaat continues to miss time for Watford, and he will miss this match with a knee injury. Kiko Femenia is set to return to the pitch for the first time since January 1 though, giving the Hornets a boost.

The Reds received relatively good news after it was feared that Jordan Henderson may have suffered a season-ending injury last week. Henderson will miss the next three weeks with a thigh injury, but he could return for Liverpool’s second leg tilt with Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. Nathaniel Clyne, Xherdan Shaqiri, and Yasser Larouci will miss this match too, while James Milner has been ruled questionable.

Matchup to Watch

In the first meeting between these two teams, Mo Salah notched a brace to lead Liverpool to a victory. The Reds have scored in 36 straight league games, so it’s very unlikely that Watford hold them at bay. If the Hornets can hold the Reds to just one goal though, they could earn a result.

Free Soccer Betting Pick

Liverpool are too strong in both ends to drop points against Watford, so expect a multi-goal victory from the visitors.
