Qualifying for the Europa League began in late June, and teams from 55 different associations have taken part in the competition. Due to what we saw from the Premier League last year in European play, English teams Arsenal and Manchester United are favorites to win it all per the Europa League betting odds, and they are both off to good starts.

Arsenal have been the class of this competition so far. The Gunners hammered their two biggest threats in Group F, and Unai Emery has this side looking at a return to glory. They opened the competition by beating Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0 in Germany, with goals from Joe Willock, Bukayo Saka, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Arsenal followed that victory up with a 4-0 win over Belgian side Standard Liege, and the Gunners were up 3-0 inside of 22 minutes. Gabriel Martinelli notched a quick brace, while Willock and Dani Ceballos also got on the scorer’s sheet.
More importantly, Arsenal’s back line has looked better than it did last season. The Gunners had some problems at center back last year, and that cost them when they took on the top teams in Europe. They made it to the Europa League Final last season, and they are looking to win it all this time.
Manchester United are currently in position to advance to the knockout rounds of this competition, but they haven’t looked too strong. The Red Devils only beat Kazakh side Astana 1-0 in Old Trafford to start off Group L play, and they had to settle for a 0-0 draw against AZ Alkmaar on Thursday.
These unconvincing results coupled with a bad start to the Premier League, might lead to Manchester United sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Solskjaer did an excellent job of turning the club around after it’s disastrous start last year, but a 2-3-2 start to the Premier League season is not acceptable for this prestigious club.
Sevilla have won the Europa League five times in their history. All five of those victories have come in the last 13 years, so recent history is on the Spanish club’s side. Sevilla won back-to-back titles in 2006 and 2007, and they became the only team to ever win three Europa League titles in a row by claiming the crown in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
This club was put into a very easy group, and Sevilla won’t have to do much to finish top of the table. The other teams in Group A are from Azerbaijan, Luxembourg, and Cyprus, and Sevilla have won both of their matches to this point. They went into Baku to beat Qarabag 3-0, and they notched a win over APOEL too. Sevilla have looked sharp at the start of La Liga too, so this could be a banner year for the club.
The Europa League betting odds are overhyping Wolves significantly. Wolverhampton have looked lost to start the season, and they have already dropped a match, losing 1-0 to Braga at home. Their Premier League campaign has not gone well with Wolves sitting at 1-4-2 this year, so the odds on Wolverhampton to win the Europa League need to be higher.
Roma are in a commanding position in Group J. They hammered Istanbul Basaksehir 4-0 at home, and they played Wolfsberger AC to a draw in Austria. Edin Dzeko has looked strong, and some English players out on loan to the club could lead Roma to the title.
