The fact that we're still talking about Leicester City playing soccer that is relevant to the rest of Europe in the middle of April is astounding. The Foxes have a long, uphill battle in front of them against Atletico Madrid in the last 90 minutes of the quarterfinal tie between the two, but to count them out would be a huge mistake with the way they've played at home over the course of this entire campaign.

This Champions League duel will go down Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at 2:45 p.m. ET at King Power Stadium. The match will be televised live on FOX Sports 2.

Odds Analysis

Atletico Madrid is known, of course, for its defense. This is a new setting for it for sure at a relatively small stadium in Leicester, but that won't change the way that it plays the game. The Atleti are going to try to salt away these 90 minutes as quickly as possible without conceding, and with a goal on board at home, one on the road would be the kill shot to any dreams the Foxes had of UCL glory.

Even though they're on the road, the Atleti are +115 favorites to take this match outright, though that really isn't the goal in the end. They just need to not lose this fixture to go through, and even if they do and score, losing by one is good enough, too. There's a reason why they're -600 favorites to advance to the semis.

The First Leg

It's hard to say that Atletico Madrid didn't deserve its 1-0 victory over Leicester City. The Spanish side was on the front foot for much of the match, and Leicester City had very little in the way of serious chances. Jamie Vardy didn't log a single attempt at goal, and the few touches that he had were of little consequence to the match.

But the Foxes will feel slighted for sure with the goal they did concede. The penalty that was issued just before the first half hour expired was clearly a foul outside the box. Antoine Griezmann didn't mind, as he finished the penalty with ease past Kasper Schmeichel.

The big question is how a Leicester City team that didn't manage a single shot on target and had just 32 percent of the possession is going to be able to pull this goal back that it lost on the penalty.

Remember that Robert Huth, one of Leicester's best players in the air in the box off of set pieces, is suspended for this match as well after picking up his third booking of the Champions League.

Atletico Madrid might not have deserved its goal that it picked up in the first leg, but it definitely was the better of the two sides. It knows that it has a bit of a lifeline here, as a goal allowed will still only be good enough for the Foxes to force an extra 30 minutes of play. Don't concede two, and that's the minimum the Atleti will manage on English soil.

For as great of a run as it has been for Leicester City, this matchup just isn't a good one. The Foxes want to play open and a bit loose over the course of the entire pitch, but that isn't what Atletico Madrid allows you to do. The chances on the ball will again be few and far between, and we wouldn't be shocked if this one gets salted away without much in the way of incident. A scoreless draw wouldn't be shocking. The Atleti just care about advancing to the last four.
