Is Juventus already safely into the Champions League Final in Cardiff? The margin they have on AS Monaco is a big one for sure at 2-0 after taking a definitive victory on French soil last week. But if we've learned nothing else over the course of the last several months of action between the top clubs in Europe, nothing is for sure until the referee blows the whistle for the final time on the 180 minutes.

Odds Analysis

Juventus really doesn't have a particular reason to care about winning this match, yet the oddsmakers are still favoring it to do so after a quite dominant 2-0 victory at the Stade Louis II six days ago. The Old Lady is set at -150 on the moneyline, a relatively shocking price on a team that has a 2-0 lead in this home and home series and merely has to not allow two goals past Gigi Buffon to stay out of any sort of trouble.

Monaco is facing +440 odds to win this match and a whopping price of nearly 8 to 1 just to advance from here. Any two-goal victory will at least force extra time, but it's hard to see a team that has been so good here at home in this tournament relenting against a Monaco side that quite frankly, feels overmatched as a UCL semifinalist.

The First Leg

What a great showing for Juventus at Monaco! Granted, Monaco probably had the better run of play for a greater portion of the match than Juventus did, but what ultimately came of it was very little. The Juventus defense was very solid at the back, and though the French side came close several times, Buffon was a pillar as he has been for his entire career.

The goals came from Gonzalo Higuain, the Argentina national player who was a huge summer signing for Juventus. He needed 29 minutes to open up his ledger and another half hour to finish off his brace.

By then, the damage was done. Monaco did muster 14 total shots, five of which hit the target, and its seven corners at least showed some signs of life. In the end though, this was a relatively easy match for the Old Lady, and she should be on to Cardiff from here.

To tell you just how much of a daunting task this is for Monaco, Juve have only conceded two goals or more once at home all season long, and they won that match 3-2 over Atalanta in the Coppa Italia four months ago. Juventus hasn't even conceded a goal at home in four straight matches, and that includes when mighty Barcelona came here to Turin and was blanked over 90 minutes.

Juventus was tactically unbelievable at Camp Nou in that return leg while holding a 3-0 lead from the match here in Turin, and we suspect we're going to see something similar this time around as well. Higuain doesn't need to go forward all that much, and even if he does, he can largely do so by himself. Goals aren't what is needed.

So yes, Monaco is going to have to go for it, and that means a lot or Radamel Falcao and Kylian Mbappe playing as far at the front as possible while the defenders at the back set an incredibly high line. But we think in the end, this fixture is headed for boredom for neutrals, albeit bliss for the fans in white and black.
