Soccer Odds - Barcelona vs. Juventus Match Preview

2017-Soccer-Barcelona-vs.-Juventus-(FS1-2)-Betting-Online

How many lives does Barcelona really have in the Champions League? They were dead in the water against PSG from down 4-0 after 90 minutes and 5-3 on aggregate needing three goals without response in the final two minutes plus stoppage time of the second leg to continue on in this tournament. And continue on Barca did. But now they're down three goals again and have a large mountain to climb against a much better team. Juventus isn't likely to let this one slip away, though many will feel at the start of this 90 minutes at the Nou Camp that magic might be set to happen again.

Don't miss the Champions League action from Camp Nou Stadium at 2:45 p.m. ET on Wednesday, April 19, 2017. Catch every moment of the match live on FOX Sports 1.

Odds Analysis

The total alone is what Barca need to get to if they want to push this one to extra time. Should Juventus score, of course, the need will then be there for five goals to advance. But then again, after pouring in six against PSG, why can't this be game on at some point at the Nou Camp?

Barcelona is a comfortable favorite at -210 on the moneyline and -1 on the Asian Handicap, but it'll need a lot more than to just win the match outright to ultimately get past the Old Lady.

The First Leg

Turin was ablaze last week for sure. Juventus was all over the pitch right from the opening minutes, producing a near goal from Paul Dybala early on before he made amends and scored a real cracker of a curling ball from the middle of the area at an odd angle. Dybala finished off his brace on 22 minutes when he put together a wonderful strike from the edge of the area on the one time past Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

The nightmare for the Dutchman continued off of a corner when Giorgio Chiellini hit the inside of the post and put one just past the line in the 55th minute as well.

The biggest stunner for Barcelona is just how out of the match it seemed from the get go. The Catalan side might have had 68 percent of the possession, but it also only had four shots on goal against Juve's eight, and the Old Lady largely kept Luis Suarez, Neymar and Lionel Messi silent. The best opportunity of the match belonged to Andres Iniesta when the match was 2-0, but at point blank, Gigi Buffon had the answer and turned the shot aside for a corner.

There has been a constant concern about Barcelona for weeks now. The team has played well at home, but there have been some really bad efforts, particularly offensively. No goals here or against PSG on the road was a big deal, but dropping 2-0 at Malaga was an even bigger offense, just as dropping 2-1 at Deportivo La Coruna was the middle of March as well.

There's no doubt that Barcelona has the quality to win this match and win it by three. But Juventus isn't going to be taking anything for granted, and its defensive record speaks for itself. Buffon has been here and done this time and time again, and he knows that he's going to be called into play against some of the best strikers on the planet. So long as he maintains his back line though, we can't see him having a meltdown as the men did from the Parc des Princes. Barca will be punished for sure.

Champions League Odds: Barcelona 2, Juventus 1
