The Gold Medal game in men’s Olympic hockey takes place on Sunday in Pyeongchang (Saturday night in North America), with Olympic Athletes from Russia taking on Germany on NBCSN. It is not a surprise that Russia is playing in the Gold Medal game, but it is shocking that Germany is in the final. Russia was the favorite coming into the tournament, while Germany was not much more than an afterthought. The Bronze Medal game has the Czech Republic taking on Canada, also on NBCSN. Group play is over, so now the real games begin at the Olympic hockey tournament in Korea with four playoff qualification games on Tuesday (Monday night, Tuesday morning in North America.) The winners of those four games will advance to the quarterfinals on Wednesday (Tuesday night, Wednesday morning in North America.) The 2018 Olympic hockey tournament will not feature NHL players and that means Russia, not Canada is listed as the favorite. Russia has more marquee players than any of the other teams and they are listed at odds of +115 to win the Gold Medal. Canada is the second choice at odds of +300, while Sweden is third in the betting odds at +400. The only other team listed at single-digit odds is Finland at +650.
