Horse Racing Odds - Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup Longshots

There are going to be multiple races on Saturday in the Breeders’ Cup, and in the lead-up to them, there is going to be an outsized focus on the favorites. However, all sharp bettors know that identifying a longshot that is able to come away with the victory is a great way to pad the bankroll. Let’s take a look at some of the Breeders’ Cup longshots who have the ability to make a run at knocking off some of the favored horses on Saturday.

The Breeders’ Cup will be held at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California on Saturday, November 2nd, 2019. The races will be nationally televised on NBC Sports.

We'll have horse racing odds at BookMaker.eu available for every race of 2019.

Odds Analysis

There are nine different races on Saturday, so there are plenty of candidates from which to choose. The races that will be held throughout the day are the Longines Classic, the Longines Turf, the Longines Distaff, the TVG Mile, the Sprint, the Maker’s Mark Filly and Mare Turf, the Big Ass Fans Dirt Mile, the Turf Sprint and the Filly and Mare Sprint. All of them have some intriguing picks in the field, but there are some choices that stand out among the rest.

In the Big Ass Fans Dirt Mile, a longshot to keep an eye on is Mr. Money at +636. There is a clear favorite in this race with Omaha Beach coming in at +126, but Catalina Cruiser and Mitole are not in it, which opens up the field for some of the longshots. Improbable did not look good at the Pennsylvania Derby recently, so if Omaha Beach falters Mr. Money could be there to win the race.

A popular pick in the Classic could be Elate, who runs well at this distance and has odds of +728. There are three horses with better odds, led by McKinzie at +345 and Code of Honor at +425, but Elate could very well be in the mix. It’s not the easiest draw as Vino Rosso, Higher Power and Yoshida are also the type of horses capable of coming on strong, but Elate is definitely a good choice.

The Turf Sprint could be wide open as no horse has been labeled as a can’t-miss winner in this one. Eddie Haskell is listed at +405 and Totally Boss isn’t far behind at +525, but traditionally this has been an unpredictable race. Final Frontier is lurking at +825 odds and could be ready to peak at the right time in this one. For an even bigger longshot in this race, Belvoir Bay at +1215 would pay off nicely and she just might be the horse to get it done.

Breeders’ Cup Pick

There is a lot of momentum behind Elate to be in the mix in the Classic. While sometimes it is smart to go against the conventional thinking, in this case it is better to ride with the sharps. Elate’s odds are very tempting right now as this horse has the high-end ability to hang with the favorites. These types of plays are called longshots for a reason, as they don’t hit all that often. However, when they do, it is a huge boost to the bankroll. The Classic should be a fantastic race this year at the Breeders’ Cup, and Elate is the choice to pull off the upset.

Breeders’ Cup Pick: Elate to win the Breeders’ Cup Classic at +728 odds
