Horse Racing Odds - Breeders’ Cup Classic

A busy weekend of racing at the Breeders’ Cup will be capped with the Longines Classic, which should be one of the most intriguing in recent memory. There is no overwhelming favorite in the field and many different horses could be capable of speeding past the finish line in first place. McKinzie is looking like the horse to beat, but there are some bettors who would much rather choose a longshot in this race considering all the parity. The Breeders’ Cup Classic is a highly decorated race and this year’s showing is lining up to be an impressive one.

The Breeders’ Cup Classic will be held at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California on Saturday, November 2nd, 2019. The race will be nationally televised on NBC Sports.

We'll have horse racing odds at BookMaker.eu available for every race of 2019.

Odds Analysis

McKinzie has been instituted as the favorite at the Classic. He has commonly finished either first or second throughout his career and had an impressive victory of late at the Whitney Stakes. However, McKinzie finished in second place at the Awesome Again Stakes, leading some to wonder what kind of performance will be waiting for McKinzie in the Breeders’ Cup Classic. The odds McKinzie has to win this race are listed at +345.

The horse with the next-best odds is Code of Honor at +425 odds. Code of Honor finished in third place in the Kentucky Derby and then took two months off to rest up. The recent returns have been pretty good as Code of Honor has two wins and a second-place finish in his past three races, all of which have come at this distance.

Vino Rosso is the other main candidate at the Breeders’ Classic, with odds listed at +605. Vino Rosso was able to edge out Code of Honor in his most recent race, but was disqualified after bumping Code of Honor down the stretch. Even with that result, the speed was impressive and Vino Rosso should be in the mix.

One of the more popular longshots at the Breeders’ Classic is Elate, who has odds of +728. That type of payout is right in the sweet spot where Elate would result in a great return with a victory and is not too much of an underdog that is has no shot of happening.

The other horses in the race are not expected to be in contention, but there is enough parity this year that it’s not completely out of the realm of possibility. Yoshida has odds of +828, followed by Higher Power at +1020, Mongolian Groom and Owendale at +1626, War of Will at +2271 and Seeking the Soul at +2577. The horse with the longest odds to win the Classic is Math Wizard at +3088. War of Will did win the Preakness and would love to be in the conversation but has not looked too strong of late and the oddsmakers clearly don’t believe he will be a factor at the Breeders’ Classic.

Breeders’ Cup Pick

The top four horses are all viable choices, but the one that stands out among the rest is Code of Honor. He has been in big races before and the odds are solid enough to result in a nice payday. Without a clear favorite, this is going to be a wide open race and one that will draw a lot of interest. McKinzie may be the horse to beat but is not the right choice in this one. Take Code of Honor to win the Breeders’ Classic.
