NHL Odds - Coyotes at Golden Knights Game Preview

2017-NHL-Coyotes-at-Golden-Knights-(NBCSN)_preview-Bet-Online

A shocked city in mourning has turned to its brand new National Hockey League expansion team for a small, brief, but much needed respite from the nightmare memory of the worst mass shooting in United States history. The Las Vegas Golden Knights franchise is off to a perfect 2-0 start with road wins at the Dallas Stars and Arizona Coyotes. The Arizona Coyotes will be the guest in the first ever regular season home game in Vegas Golden Knights history on Tuesday night. There was considerable buzz, anticipation, and excitement for the Golden Knights heading into the season but circumstances now make for even more attention as the team is galvanizing the Sin City community in a much needed way.

At 10 p.m. ET, tune into NBCSN for live television coverage of this NHL Game on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at T Mobile Arena.

We’ll have NHL odds at BookMaker.eu available for this and every game on the Tuesday NHL schedule.

Odds Analysis

The Golden Knights are winning the old fashioned way, they EARN it! Vegas is focusing on strong defense, goaltending, and just enough timely goal scoring to get over the hump. So far in this young season, the 2-0 Golden Knights rank 28th in the NHL for goal scoring but a strong fourth best in the NHL for goals against.

Left winger James Neal has quickly become the Golden Boy of the Golden Nights with three goals in the first two games and the game winning goal in both matchups.

Arizona lost their first game of the season at the Anaheim Ducks 5-4 and then lost their home opener to the Golden Knights in overtime on Saturday night. Arizona ranks 20th in the NHL for goal scoring and 18th in the NHL for goals against.

Special Teams

The Golden Knights power play has struggled mightily so far on the season with a ranking of 31st in the NHL. Vegas ranks a much more respectable 13th in the NHL for penalty killing.

The Coyotes have had strong special teams on the other hand despite not winning in their two games so far. Arizona ranks fifth best in the NHL for power play efficiency while ranking tops in the NHL for penalty killing.

Goalie Report

Long time Pittsburgh Penguin Marc Andre Fleury was a universally acclaimed acquisition in the expansion draft and he has not disappointed as a Golden Knight. Fleury has a sparkling save percentage of .973 with a 0.98 goals against average with two wins. As the face of the franchise he is likely to end up as a Golden Knight for life and will serve in the front office once his playing days are over.

Arizona has split goaltending duties between Antti Raanta and Louis Domingue. Raanta had a far better debut in the second game of the season for Arizona with a save percentage of .952 while Domingue was shelled at Anaheim in the season opener with five goals against on 41 shots.

Free NHL Picks

The Golden Knights are getting pounded by gamblers, not just in Las Vegas, but all over the world both on the futures board and for this game. That always makes us worried when the public is all over a team like this. Beyond that there will be the added pressure of the historic first home game, the significance of the tragic events of just nine days prior, only two blocks away from the T Mobile Arena, and the desire to go all out to please the fans. Arizona should be in a relaxed mood as the afterthought opponent that nobody is paying attention too. This makes them a potentially dangerous value dog. I am going to bet that enhanced value and take Arizona and the under in what should be a tight defensive game.

NHL Odds: Coyotes 2, Golden Knights 1
