These teams have played three low scoring games this season, with the Predators winning two of three.

Odds Analysis

The Blackhawks are currently out of a playoff spot in the Western Conference, as they sit in last place, but they are only four points behind the second Wild Card spot. Chicago is coming off a 5-1 win on Thursday against Detroit, as the line of Jonathan Toews, Alex DeBrincat and Anthony Duclair combined for four goals and three assists. “It’s only one game,” coach Joel Quenneville said to the media, “But I thought we did a lot of good things in our two prior games without getting a ‘W.’ Maybe there’s a corner that’s turned. Let’s come out of this break here with some excitement and see where it takes us.”

Chicago is hoping that goaltender Corey Crawford will be able to return soon. He has been dealing with vertigo, but he has started to practice with the team again and Chicago is hopeful he can get back in goal. The problem for Chicago is that they have some major questions in defense and they have a lot of young players still trying to adjust to the NHL.

Chicago is 11-13 on the road, with 12 games going over, 10 going under, with two pushes. They are scoring 3 goals per game and giving up 2.8 per contest.

The Predators are currently on an eight-game point streak. They have been rolling along even without the injured Filip Forsberg who is out until the middle of next month. Nashville has six wins and two overtime losses in their last eight games. Nashville is getting excellent play in goal from Pekka Rinne and Juuse Saros and P.K. Subban is playing at a high level on defense. He made the All-Star game and he has eight points in his last eight games.

Nashville has been really good on home ice, going 16-7, with 11 games going over and 13 going under. They are scoring 3 goals per game and giving up 2.5 per contest.

Special Teams

The Blackhawks are 28th in the league on the power play at just over 15%, while they are 14th in penalty killing at about 82%. The Predators feature excellent special teams, as they are 3rd in the league on the power play at almost 24% and they are 8th in penalty killing at almost 83%.

Key Stat

Nashville has won six of the last seven meetings in this series, with the last three going under the total. The Predators have also won 7 of the last 10 at home in this series, with one under, one over and five pushes in the last seven meetings.

Free NHL Picks

Despite the Blackhawks playing better before the break there are still some major questions for this team, especially in goal with Crawford out. The Predators have been very good at home this season and they have owned the Blackhawks of late in this series. It is always a little dicey making picks coming out of the break, but the Predators are the better team and they should get this win at home.

NHL Odds: Predators 4, Blackhawks 1
