NHL Live Betting Odds – Blues vs. Predators Sunday

NHL Live Betting Odds

At the beginning of the season the Nashville Predators were rightfully considered a top tier contender to win the Western Conference. Indeed, the Predators still have their Stanley Cup window wide open but with the understanding that they will soon be out of time. Nashville has taken a share of the lead in the Central Division with a combination of defense and goaltending that is among the best in the NHL. The St. Louis Blues have done a great job digging themselves out of the ditch after getting off the playoff path to start the season. The Note is now just one point out of a playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Odds Analysis

Most of the public Betting action will be on the Predators based on their superior reputation and consistency. Bargain hunters may find St. Louis enticing based on their recent performance and the fact that they are back in post season contention.

Current Form

The Blues have won seven of their last ten games as one of the hottest teams on the NHL board to now stand at 25-22-4-1 with 22-27-3 under the total. Just three of the Blues last ten games have gone over the total. Road ice has not been a problem for St. Louis as evidenced by their record of 13-9-3 with 7-16-2 under total away from home.

Nashville is also taking big profits at the present time with five payouts in their last six games to now stand at 33-19-3-1 with 25-28-3 under the total. At Bridgestone Arena the Preds are 18-10 with a mark of 10-15-3 under the total on home ice.

Matchup Metrics

St. Louis ranks 24th in the NHL for goal scoring and 17th for the power play. Defensively is where the Predators make their mark. The Blues rank 12th for goals against and 20th for penalty killing.

Nashville ranks 12th in the NHL for goal scoring although a disturbing 31st for the power play. On the back end the Predators rank second for goals against and 12th for the penalty kill.

Goaltending Report

Between the pipes the Predators have one of the top tandems in the NHL. Juuse has a save percentage of .917 with a 2.47 goals against average. Pekka Rinne is at .914 for the save percentage and a 2.47 goals against average. Rinne’s biggest challenge lies ahead. The future Hall of Famer had a bad playoff series last spring and is eager to atone for it.

The St. Louis Blues season may indeed be saved by Jordan Binnington. The first year NHL netminder has a .931 save percentage with a 1.70 goals against average and two shutouts. He has taken the job away from the inconsistent head case Jake Allen. The one time “goalie of the future” has slipped to a .897 save percentage and a 3.04 goals against average.

Players to Watch

St. Louis center Ryan O’Reilly has proven to be an astute pickup from Buffalo over the off season. O’Reilly leads the Blues with 20 goals, 33 assists and a plus 18. Nashville left wing Viktor Arvidsson has 22 goals to lead the team. Defenseman Mattias Ekholm is a Norris Trophy candidate with six goals, 32 assists, and a plus 26.
