Monday night was simply a precursor to a massive blow-out. It all began with Shelton's Barrett Baber, who sang “Ghost.” He took the pop song and flipped it into the country-soul style that he tends to favor.

Shelby Brown from Team Adam sang “Even God Must Get the Blues” next. In her rehearsal, she was struggling with her timing.

Team Gwen’s Jeffery Austin went next, curiously deciding to sing Cher's “Believe.” But Austin has a very distinct tone, and his personal artistry came through. It was a bold performance, and the risk paid off, his experience coming through.

Then Braiden Sunshine from Team Gwen was up. Last week, Sunshine survived the audience instant save and got another chance. Tonight, he chose to sing “Amazing Grace,” and he sounded good.

Team Blake’s Zach Seabaugh sang “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus. Sounded good, and really an underrated ditty. Stefani said she’s sure they’ll be seeing him in the finale.

Team Pharrell’s only remaining artist, Madi Davis, went next, singing the classic “Big Girls Don’t Cry." It was another understated performance, but her voice sounded beautiful, filling the room. “That was too perfect to be live,” Shelton said.

Team Blake’s Emily Ann Roberts sang the Dolly Parton hit “9 to 5." It was an uncharacteristically upbeat song for the contestant and such was welcome.

Team Adam’s Amy Vachal sang “Make You Feel My Love.” As usual, Vachal made the Adele song her own.

Closing out the night, Jordan Smith from Levine’s team decided to sing something totally new: Queen's “Somebody to Love." Further proving that he can sing just about anything, Smith nailed it, leading to the best performance of the night and quite possibly the season.

And that was it. Within 24 hours five artists would be voted off, and the remaining four advancing to next week’s finale.

When Tuesday night came Jordan Smith was the first season-nine artist through to the finals.

Emily Ann Roberts was the next artist voted through to the finals. Roberts didn’t seem like a frontrunner early on in the competition, but she has improved significantly with coaching, and clearly she has been connecting with voters because she never has been in the bottom two.

After a performance by none other than Dolly Parton herself, the results continued. Barrett Baber from Team Blake became the second member of Shelton’s team to advance to the finals.

Next, Daly announced the three artists who would be singing for the last audience instant save of the season: Team Gwen’s Jeffery Austin, Team Blake’s Zach Seabaugh and Team Pharrell’s Madi Davis.

Team Adam’s Amy Vachal and Shelby Brown, as well as Team Gwen’s Braiden Sunshine, all were eliminated. Vachal’s elimination was downright surprising.

Seabaugh sang first, choosing “Live Like You Were Dying." Davis, Pharrell’s last shot at making it to the finals, went next, singing “Don’t Dream It’s Over."

Austin sang Ed Sheeran's “Make It Rain."

After the Twitter votes were calculated, Daly announced that Austin would be advancing to next week’s finals. Pharrell will not have an artist in the finale.
