The first pairing of the week went to Team Adam’s Jordan Smith and Regina Love. Adam’s advisor was John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival, which was curious to say the least. Fogerty's last hit was in the late 80's, and CCR's maybe 20 years prior to that. Sam Smith’s “Like I Can” was the song selection. It was a tough call, but Adam chose to keep Jordan on his team. Regina worried only a minute or so, as she got stolen by Gwen.

Both this past Monday and Tuesday were dedicated to Battle Rounds on "The Voice," with the second night being by far the more interesting of the two. (Plus, it was also going head-to-head with some even more dire battle rounds - the Democratic debate airing on CNN.)

The second evening of Battle Rounds was condensed to just one hour, and featured only three performances (plus three of the montages). Every Battle packed a punch: We saw two early favorites wipe out sooner than expected, and a third singer given a second chance.

The night started off with Team Adam’s Keith Semple and Manny Cabo, who are given “Baba O’Riley” by The Who, which is far more challenging than singer Roger Daltrey ever let on. Manny and Keith were very closely matched. In the end, Pharrell called Manny “stratospheric,” but Adam kept Keith. Manny’s sudden departure, after his four-chair turn audition, was just the first surprise of the episode.

Next up was another pair of audition all-stars: Chris Crump and Krista Hughes of Team Blake, both of whom also got all four coaches to press their buttons. Blake assigned them “When I Get Where I’m Going,” as performedby Dolly Parton and his advisor, Brad Paisley. It was all very "Hee Haw." Throughout this Battle, Chris stayed strong Krista could barely be heard over his vocals, and when she did get a few lines to herself, she did little with them. Blake let Krista go, and just like that, one of the most promising singers of the season was out of the running.

Before the final performance, Carson announced the winners of three montage Battles: Madi Davis from Team Pharrell beat Sydney Rhame, Kota Wade from Team Gwen beat Alex Kandel, and Jeffery Austin, also from Team Gwen, beat Noah Jackson.

The final Battle of the night came from Team Pharrell. The coach gave Ivonne Acero and Siahna Im “You Keep Me Hangin’ On” byThe Supremes.

Pharrell picked Siahna. Blake and Gwen surprised everyone, however, by both buzzing in to steal Ivonne. Ivonne was wooed away to Team Blake.

Extras:

  • After the first week of Battle Rounds, each coach is left with just one more steal
  • Blake remains the only coach who hasn’t yet had a single singer montaged at any point yet this season
