2015-The-Bachelorette-Betting-Spread

The Twitterverse went into "Bachelorette" overdrive this past week. This year's "coveted one," Kaitlyn, had sex with one of the guys, and fans of the series were outraged. Do they think this is the first time this has ever happened on the show? The only time? The last?

Evidently the comments veered more toward the "too soon." We are a judgmental lot, us reality TV fans.

Ms. Bristowe owned it though, defending herself on-line, and even pointing out how important intimacy is to a relationship. It says a lot when it is the central 'character" sparking the controversy on a show like this, as opposed to the contestants, which is typically the norm.

She even got a helping hand from comedian Amy Schumer, who came to her defense on-line.

Elsewhere in the June 22 episode, Ian's fallout with Kaitlyn continued, everyone jetted to Dublin, and everything managed to get more tense than it already was.

The episode picked up right where it left off last Monday night on ABC. Ian was off on a rant about how Kaitlyn’s a “surface level person,” and he was on the show to find an actual wife. “I’m not looking to plow your field," he said, repeating the line she uttered herself that, arguably, put her on the reality TV map. "I’m looking for a deeper connection."

Needless to say, Kaitlyn did not like this. She called him out for being rude and offensive. He admitted that he knew he was going home, and she didn’t fight him on it.

Later, at the Rose Ceremony, Kaitlyn addressed her conversation with Ian with the rest of the guys. This culminated with Josh and Justin getting the boot.

Nick was the first to get a one-on-one date with Kaitlyn once in Dublin. Which surprised exactly no one - at least, not any of the viewers.

Kaitlyn and Nick had a normal, casual date, strolling through the streets of Dublin and only stopping to make out against stone walls. The two could not keep their hands off each other. Their date continued in Kaitlyn's suite.

It was reality TV post-production at its "finest": Mic packs still on, you heard the requisite kissing, muttered proclamations of attraction and - gasp! - maybe even love. We know they made it...but are they in it?

Beyond this, Shawn B. clearly took Joshua’s place as the contestant most upset that Nick is here. And why not - he's the one everyone was saying looked like Ryan Gosling. He was off to a strong start.

When we returned to Nick and Kaitlyn’s date, they were having dinner at Christ Church Cathedral, and Nick was thanking her for “taking a chance” by keeping him here.

It is difficult not to feel as if not only is Nick a ringer, but that the choice has already been made. The other contestants being ticked off is understandable.
