Ben Higgins met the families of the final four women on this past Monday night's episode. And visiting the hometowns of Amanda, Caila, JoJo and Lauren B. before eliminating one of them back in Los Angeles proved as interesting (and occasionally entertaining) as it always does.

His first stop was Laguna Beach, California, where Amanda introduced him to her two daughters at the beach. The girls were shy around him at first, but they slowly warmed up to him as they played in the sand.

At the home of Amanda's family, her father informed Ben that being a stepdad to her children would be a big responsibility. As if someone would need to be told that. On TV.

In Portland, Oregon, Ben caught up with Lauren B. to go sightseeing and check out a whiskey museum.

Ben was grilled by Lauren's sister, as is oft the case. He became quasi-emotional as he told her how lucky he feels to be with Lauren.

Ben headed next to Hudson, Ohio. There, Caila showed him a good time, taking him to her father's toy factory, where they built a toy home that they designed together. Precious!

But by far the most dramatic hometown visit was in Dallas, where JoJo received a letter from an ex-boyfriend. The date had begun with JoJo stumbling upon a love letter and bouqet of flowers on her doorstep. Assuming the gifts were from Ben, sheopened the letter and began reading it out loud, for the viewing audience to enjoy. After a few lines, she realized the gifts were from the ex.

What to do? Call him - on behalf of the aforementioned viewing audience - and cut ties for once and for all, of course.

JoJo's brothers proved to be an even tougher challenge for her and, as a result, Ben. One brother asked her, "How can you fall in love with someone you've only been on two dates with?"

The brothers applied more pressure in a conversation with Ben, suggesting that he isn't as invested in his relationship with JoJo as she is, and that he'd been coached on how to answer their questions. One brother confronted him with, “Ben, you’ve brainwashed these girls way too much” — a line that was strategically featured in the teaser clip for this week’s episode.

The episode ended in Los Angeles, where Ben sent home Amanda, admitting to her that he had stronger feelings for the other three. Loosely translated: Dad scared Ben right off.

Amanda told Ben he should have let her know after the hometown date that he had doubts but Ben insisted that he hadn't made up his mind then.

Upon leaving, Amanda told the cameras, in tears, "I'm just shocked ... I've never introduced anyone to my kids ... he seemed like he was ready to come into our lives."

Ben cried, too, and said, "I can't do this right now," turning his back to the cameras.

Next Monday night, Ben, Caila, JoJo and Lauren B. go to Jamaica. That should help.
