DWTS-Sept25

Hometown Glory week saw the pros get to honor their early, humble beginnings.

But the question on everyone's mind:

Who would survive the second half of the double elimination?

Hayes and Emma

Quickstep|“Are YouGonnaBe My Girl” by Jet Emma dedicated this dance to her twin. Hayes' looked a bit stiff, and footwork is key to the Quickstep; but between the beat, Emma’s pink hair, and the multi-color beads, it was watchable. Judges’ Score: 23

Carlos andWitney

Cha Cha|“Hound Dog” by Kimberly Nichole and Lowell Oakley Witney is from American Fork, Utah, and she shared that she, Lindsay, and Jenna have all danced together since they were 9. She also said she started watchingDancingwhen she was 11, which was remarkably depressing. For many. Carlos was feeling exhausted, but gave it his all. Carrie Ann, though, wasn’t impressed. Judges’ Score: 21

Gary and Anna

PasoDoble|“1812 Overture” by Tchaikovsky Anna channeled her Russian upbringing and Gary channeled...whatever it is that Gary is always channeling. (Also, Gary called a producer a dummy for asking during rehearsal if he thought they’d get eliminated. Sublime.) This was probably the easiest routine for him to master because he had to do a whole lot of nothing but flail his arms in the air. Judges’ Score: 15

Andy and Allison

Contemporary|“Heaven Is a Place on Earth” by Katie Thompson Allison is from Utah but she calls L.A. home with her husband. Andy really nailed this one. Despite that, the judges were a little tough on him, but they all agreed it was an improvement. Judges’ Score: 23

Alexa and Mark

Rumba|“Somewhere in Time” by John Barry and Roger Williams Mark’s parents were world-renowned dancers, and Mark got choked up talking about one of the last dances they did as a married couple. Ultimately, this served as yet another example of the pre-taped portion exceeding the actual performance entertainment-wise. Judges’ Score: 22

Paula and Louis

Tango|“Get Ready” by The Temptations Louis was born and raised in the Netherlands and admitted he wanted to do Broadway. He started teaching ballroom in New York and shared that Maks, Tony, Val, and Karina were all in his classes. Have I mentioned this show's proclivity for the pre-taped segments being more entertaining than the dances sometimes? Judges’ Score: 18

Bindiand Derek

Waltz|“Only a Man” by Jonny Lang An unusually slow number, Julianne called it beautiful and called Bindi a blessing for being so comfortable in her own skin. But points were taken away, apparently, because Hough lifted Bindi off the ground, which is against the Waltz rules. Judges’ Score: 23

Kim and Tony

Foxtrot|“Come Home” byOneRepublic Tony opened up about growing up in a war-torn Kosovo, where he discovered the power of dance. He then got defensive with the judges that it’s only Week 2. Judges’ Score: 18

Alekand Lindsay

Quickstep|“American Girl” by Elle King Alek dazzled the judges once already. But his Quickstep routine wasn’t as impressive. Judges’ Score: 22

Victor and Karina

Rumba|“Girl on Fire” by Alicia Keys Karina moved to the states from Ukraine and hoped this number would represent a girl who never gave up. It’s a powerful song, but overshadowed the actual dance. Judges’ Score: 20

Nick andSharna

Foxtrot|“Coming Home, Pt II” bySkylarGrey Sharna got choked up talking about her faraway hometown where her father and grandma are on dialysis so Nick reassured her they’d make it past this week. Big talk, but Bruno agreed he’s back on track. Judges’ Score: 24

Tamar and Val

Charleston|“Living in New York” by RobinThicke Val talked about his parents bringing them to New York City. Bickering seems to be this duo's “thing.” Will it lead to fireworks on the dance floor, thoigh? So far, so OK. Judges’ Score: 25

Time for the season’s second elimination: It’s Gary and Anna vs Victor and Karina for the bottom two.

No way Gary can go so soon, right? Right!
