Big-Brother-wager

Bye Bye Becky; It's Always The Quiet Ones

This past week on "Big Brother," which appears to be on every other night:

Liz nominated Becky and John, and both were not happy, immediately setting a goal to make sure one of them won the POV, which would ensure their safety.

Vanessa continued to plant doubts to Liz about John. She even tried to manipulate him in making sure their previous conversation is in the past.

Going into the POV competition, John realized he needed to throw the competition to gain some loyalty towards Liz. John told Austin as much, while Austin assured him he’ll be safe for the week. Austin then ran to tell Liz.

It was really interesting to see how James predicted John and Becky’s random draw for who would play for POV. John drew Meg and Becky drew Steve, while Liz drew houseguest’s choice and chose Austin over her own twin sister, who obviously then wondered where her sister’s loyalties were at.

James was selected to host the competition. After the fifth round someone would be crowned with the POV. John kept his promise of throwing the competition and was the first contestant out. Steve also didn’t want to win the competition and wanted to keep his persona of being weak in the game and was eliminated next. (Should we start taking him seriously?) Becky fought hard but was eliminated next. Meg came back strong from a wipe out but still was eliminated next, leaving Liz and Austin to battle for the POV. Austin lost, but still received a kiss from Liz.

With Liz winning the POV she had all the power. Vanessa was feeling alone, looking everywhere for sympathy.

And then...the voting.

Becky Burgess was the latest person to be evicted from the Big Brother house on Thursday night, the 26-year-old retail manager from Denver.

• Steve voted to evict Becky

• Vanessa voted to evict Becky

• Meg voted to evict Becky

• Austin voted to evict Becky

• That was already enough votes. It’s official.

• Julia voted to evict Becky

• James voted to evict Becky

Ouch. By a vote of 6-0, Becky was evicted from the Big Brother house.

Fact is, Becky lacked the ability to convince anybody in the house to side with her – not even her supposed allies in Johnny Mac Maguire and Jackie Ibarra, who was voted out the next round during the double elimination right after Atlanta’s Shelli Poole. (Many folks thought Shelli was a bigger threat.)

If Becky returns to the game, she has said she’d more likely target Liz over Vanessa. This is probably because Liz put Becky up against her ally Johnny Mac, who has been playing a quixotically more effective game. Becky couldn’t garner a single vote last week against him.

He too has played both sides of the house but has managed not to burn any real bridges (except maybe with Vanessa.). Nonetheless, he and Steve (in a mini-alliance as floaters) decided it was smarter to join Austin, Liz & Julia, and Vanessa over Meg and James, neither of whom appear an actual threat to anyone at this point.

Having seen the start of the Head of Household competition, per usual, Meg was out early. Austin eventually won. James came in second, but coming in second means nothing. He and Meg remain serious targets.

On Sunday night's episode look for Austin to win HOH, and subsequently nominate James and Meg. James then might win veto. Meantime, could Steve be the one to eke out the ultimate victory?
