This is beginning to look eerily like the final stretch of the first season of FOX's long-running hit competition series. In the front is a plucky gal with a monster voice, followed closely by a confident (if not over-confident) guy with swagger, and in the offing is a rocker with brightly colored hair. Think about it.

And still in the midst of it all? None other than Ryan Seacrest (sans Brian Dunkleman) ending the episode with a melancholy, “From Stage 36 for the last time: Goodnight, America.

Yep, next week’s finale will be live from the Dolby Theater — which means we all just witnessed the finalIdolbroadcast from the show’s studio setting. Here are the current American Idol odds to win from BookMaker.eu:

ODDS TO WIN AMERICAN IDOL: THE FAREWELL SEASON

DALTON RAPATTONI +351

LA'PORSHA RENAE -300

MACKENZIE BOURG +1509

TRENT HARMON +665

CONTESTANT’S CHOICE (AKA “HOMETOWN” DEDICATION)

MacKenzie Bourg – Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah" |His choice of “Hallelujah” — a song that managed to sound fresh when Jason Castro tackled it in Season 7, but has become a singing competition cliché in subsequent years —lacked the necessary passion and grit. It was beyond the young guy.

Dalton Rapattoni – Blue October’s “Calling You” |Dalton, of course, went off the grid, and straight for indie cred with a tune from a Texas rock band that’s been one of his greatest inspirations. The problem for Dalton was in execution. His voice repeatedly got swallowed by the band.

Trent Harmon – David Allan Coe/George Jones’ “Tennessee Whiskey" |Harmon was in his comfort zone, plus had an a cappella breakdown and his family brought on-stage for a reunion.

La’Porsha Renae – John Legend and Common’s “Glory” |She used her growl and vibrato to infuse the song’s lyrics with depth and gravitas. Well done.

SCOTT BORCHETTA’S CHOICE

Dalton Rapattoni – Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing in the Dark” |The way Dalton dressed it up in heavy synths on the verse —then a frenetic emo-rock bounciness on the chorus — was interesting and even in tune. He still has a shot. In fact, here at BookMaker Dalton is outpacing Trent Harmon, with odds of +351.

La’Porsha Renae – Lorraine Ellison/Bette Midler’s “Stay With Me | Clearly the front-runner, La’Porsha'sphrasing left her consistently behind the beat, taking away the urgency and raw drama that makes “Stay With Me” one of the great heartbreak anthems of all-time. She leads the pack with -300.

Trent Harmon – Justin Timberlake’s “Drink You Away” |Trent had his moments with the first JT track cleared forIdol, but the band’s aggressive guitars left him struggling to stay above water. As a result, Trent seemed a little disconnected from the drama at the heart of the song — something that is very big to Connick. His +665 odds make him the long-shot, believe it or not, and this could have sealed his fate.

So, if it plays out like that first season (which would be kinda cool), we'll see Dalton fall away, with Trent pulling a Justin Guarini and ultimately being trampled by this season's Kelly Clarkson. I wouldn't hate that. But I'm still holding out for Rapattoni.
