WARD WARMS UP

Andre Ward - COMING SOON

Sullivan Barrera - COMING SOON

Saturday, March 26

HBO, 9:45 p.m. ET

Andre Ward - 28-0, 15 KOs - is already scheduled to face unified light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev this fall on HBO PPV, but in the meantime he’s staying busy. The former super middleweight champion will lock horns with undefeated Sullivan Barrera - 17-0, 12 KOs - in Ward’s hometown of Oakland, CA.

Ward has only fought three times since late 2011, so it’s good to see him already fight twice this year. Of course, we’ll have to wait a little longer for his highly anticipated matchup with Kovalev, which will be one of the biggest fights of the season. For now, watch him handle business with ease against a relative unknown in Barrera.

ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER JOURNEYMAN

Hughie Fury -5000

Nagy Aguilera +1700

Saturday, March 26

Wembley Arena, London, U.K.

Undefeated heavyweight prospect Hughie Fury - 18-0, 10 KOs - will clash with yet another journeyman this Saturday in London. This time, it’s the struggling Nagy Aguilera - 20-9, 14 KOs - that will step up to the plate. Aguilera is most known for his losses to good heavyweights in Dominic Breazeale and Gerald Washington.

Fury should handily beat Aguilera, and hopefully he’ll raise his level of opposition. He isn’t doing himself any favors by taking squash matches.

BROOK BOOKED FOR EASY NIGHT

Kevin Bizier +1500

Kell Brook -3500

Saturday, March 26

Sheffield Arena, Yorkshire, U.K.

For his third title defense, IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook - 35-0, 24 KOs - will meet Canada’s Kevin Bizier - 25-2, 17 KOs - in a huge mismatch. What is it with these champs taking softball bouts? To Bizier’s credit, his only losses have come against Ionut Dan Ion, whose a pretty decent fighter.

Brook is coming off a TKO win over Frankie Gavin in May 2015. He’s eyeing a big-money matchup with Amir Khan for years. Who knows if it’ll happen anytime soon.

ON THE REBOUND

Luke Campbell -2150

Gary Sykes +1150

Saturday, March 26

Sheffield Arena, Yorkshire, U.K.

Taking place on the undercard of Brook-Bizier, U.K. native Luke Campbell - 12-1, 10 KOs - will look to bounce back from his first defeat against Gary Sykes - 28-4, 6 KOs. Campbell had risen to the upper echelon of the lightweight division before his lopsided decision loss to Yvan Mendy.

Perhaps it’s time to temper our expectations with Campbell. Taking on a low-level opponent like Sykes should help rebuild his confidence, but it’s obvious he’s got a lot to work on.
