WELTERWEIGHTS

Barclays Center, Brooklyn, NY

Chris Algieri +950

Errol Spence Jr. -1550

TV: NBC, 8:30 p.m. ET

2012 U.S. Olympian Errol Spence, generally regarded as one of the top prospects in boxing, will take a huge step up in competition when he meets Chris Algieri. A former junior welterweight titleholder, Algieri is a more than a 9-to-1 underdog according to the boxing odds at BookMaker. It makes sense, as Spence’s combination of power, speed and skill is frightening.

Spence - 19-0, 16 KOs - has yet to lose as a pro, and facing a veteran like Algieri - 21-2, 8 KOs - will be a great litmus test for the 26-year old southpaw. With a win over a name opponent, Spence could open up the door for a title shot later this year. He’s already stated that his goal is to earn a world title by the close of 2016.

SUPER FLYWEIGHT

Strike Coliseum, Bacoor, Philippines

Jerwin Ancajas +325

McJoe Arroyo -405

TV: TBA

Junior bantamweight champion McJoe Arroyo - 17-0, 8 KOs - won the IBF 115-pound belt in July 2015 with a 10-round decision over Filipino Arthur Villanueva. The fight ended early, due to a cut suffered by Villanueva from an accidental head butt. The Puerto Rican now faces his Jerwin Ancajas - 24-1-1, 16 KOs - in a mandatory title defense.

Ancajas is ranked #3 by the IBF, and fought twice in 2015, beating Juan Purisma and Paul Apolinario by KOs. He’s won 11 fights in a row since a 2012 majority loss to Mark Anthony Geraldo. Coincidentally, Geraldo also lost to Arroyo by unanimous decision, in December 2014.

FEATHERWEIGHT

First Direct Arena, Leeds, U.K.

Hisashi Amagasa +375

Josh Warrington -575

Although undefeated WBC international champion Josh Warrington - 22-0, 4 KOs - is a heavy favorite against Hisashi Amagasa - 30-5-2, 20 KOs - the fight might not be an easy one. Warrington is nearly four inches shorter than the challenger and possesses far less punching power.

If Guillermo Rigondeaux struggled to to beat Amagasa, it’s easy to see Warrington having some trouble against the massive featherweight. One thing’s for sure, Warrington doesn’t have the power to seriously hurt the durable Amagasa. He’ll have to outbox the bigger man and win on points.
