Boxing odds - Terrence Crawford vs. Henry Lundy card preview

2016-Boxing-Terence-Crawford-vs.-Hank-Lundy-Lines

It’s not Terence Crawford’s fault he’s facing an outmatched Hank Lundy in his upcoming title defense. Top contenders like Ruslan Provodnikov, Viktor Postol, Lucas Matthysse and Mauricio Herrera all passed on the bout, citing various reasons. Hopefully they’ll come around sooner than later, as we’d all love to see Crawford tested. But for now, we’ll have to settle for a Saturday HBO card filled with stay-busy fights.

MAIN EVENT

Junior welterweights

Henry Lundy +1450

Terence Crawford -3050

Prediction: Crawford TKO Lundy R9

ODDS ANALYSIS

Tune into watch Crawford, who resides within the top 10 of many pound-for-pound rankings. Since thrashing Ricky Burns in March 2014 to win the lightweight title, Crawford has defeated the likes of the then-undefeated Yuriorkis Gamboa, contender Thomas Dulorme a No. 2 ranked Dierry Jean.

Hank Lundy has notable wins over former world champions in David Diaz and Richar Abril. Although he’s lost two of his past three, both of those defeats were extremely competitive. He’s not a total scrub, but it’s safe to say he’s not in Crawford’s league.

“This is the type of fight I have been waiting for,” Lundy stated. “The last couple of fights I have beaten guys but didn’t get a fair shake. If you’re a true fan of boxing, you know I belong in the ring with the best fighters in the world. I’m the type of guy that no one wants to fight, because I am the real deal.”

Don’t be fooled by Lundy’s confidence. There’s a reason that Crawford is considered one of the best fighters in the world. The Brit is an expensive bet, but he’s pretty much a sure thing.

CO-FEATURE

Lightweights

William Silva +3050

Felix Verdejo -6750

PREDICTION: Verdejo KO Silva R8

ODDS ANALYSIS

In an even bigger mismatch, rising lightweight phenom Felix Verdejo will meet undefeated William Silva in the co-feature. Verdejo was ESPN’s 2014 prospect of the year, and many have pegged the Puerto Rican as a star in waiting. Just 22 years old, Verdejo has already compiled a 19-0 record with 14 KOs.

Silva fought on the undercard of a Verdejo card this past December, knocking out Bayan Jargal. After the fight, he asked Top Rank fight promoter for a fight with Verdejo. The 30-year old has serious huevos, considering how dominant Verdejo has been. Although he’s 23-0 with 14 KOs, Silva simply isn’t in the same league as Verdejo.

A straight bet on Verdejo might not be worth your time. Instead, check the over/under and the prop bets for better value. For what it’s worth, betting that the fight ends with Verdejo scoring a KO/TKO seems like a fairly solid play.
