Boxing odds online: It’s been a while since we last saw former super middleweight champion Lucian Bute – 31-2, 24 KOs – in a boxing ring. 19 months, to be exact. But the 35-year old southpaw is now fully healthy, and he’ll face the unknown Andrea Di Luisa in a 10-round tune-up fight in Montreal – Bute’s adopted hometown.

The bout will headline a Premier Boxing Champions card set for NBC Sports Network.

Check Bookmaker for the latest Bute-Di Luisa money lines, and expect Bute to be a massive favorite, starting around minus-2000. This is clearly a tune-up fight, and the odds are going to reflect that. The over/under on this 10-rounder will likely be set at 7.5 rounds at nearly pick’em odds. There’s a great chance that Bute puts Di Luisa out for the count, accounting for the low over/under.

WELCOME BACK, BUTE

Due to a lingering back injury, Bute has not fought since January 2014, when he lost a 12-round unanimous decision to former light heavyweight champ Jean Pascal. Having to sit on that loss for nearly two years, the Romanian is itching to get back into the win column.

“I’m ready and looking forward to going back in the ring. I have not lost my passion and I train six days a week, twice a day. I am excited to perform on the big stage on August 15.”

Bute claimed the 168-pound world title in 2007, making nine successful defenses. Eight of those wins came in his adopted hometown of Qubec and the other happened in his native country of Romania. However, when he ventured to England to face Carl Froch in his hometown of Nottingham, Froch destroyed him in five rounds to take the title.

Since then, he’s fought just twice and has not looked good. He struggled to beat Denis Grachev in what was supposed to be squash matchup in November 2012, then was beat down by Pascal. It’ll be interesting to see how Bute responds after back-to-back disappointments and a major injury.

Di Luisa is a 33-year old Italian fighter on a four-fight winning streak. However, none of those wins have come against anyone of note. He’ll also be fighting outside of his home country for the first time, against the first significant opponent of his career.

FIGHT ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION

Unless Bute’s confidence is completely shattered, there’s almost no way he’s losing this fight. I’m not sure where the promoter even found Di Luisa, but the Italian is way out of his league. If you want to maximize your earnings, you should definitely take a look at the under, as it will net a better payout than betting on Bute outright to win.
