Miguel Flores (20-0, 9 KOs) is ready for the spotlight. For the first time, the unbeaten contender will fight on the east coast, headlining a nationally televised PBC card on ESPN. And his opponent, the once-beaten Ryan Kielczweski (25-1, 7 KOs), represents Flores’ stiffest competition to date.

FIGHT LEAD-IN

Flores hasn’t lost since turning pro at just 17 years old back in 2009. Now 23, he’s coming off a big 2015 in which he beat German Meraz, Juan Ruiz, Carlos Padilla and Alfred Tetteh. This year, Flores has already taken lopsided wins over Mario Briones in January and Ruben Tamayo. That’s not the best competition, but Kielczweski can be considered a legitimate opponent.

“Fighting on ESPN is incredible, because you know that fans from all around the world will be tuning in,” said Flores. “My opponent is a very skilled fighter, so I’ll be at my best when we step in the ring. Expect me to go to war and bring a lot of action to those who will be watching.”

The 26-year old Kielczweski is a former Golden Gloves runner-up who began his career 22-0 before dropping a split decision to Danny Aquino in April 2015. He’s rebounded with three straight victories, most recently pitching an eight-round shutout against Mario Macias Rorozco this past April.

In the co-feature, Bryant Parella (14-0, 13 KOs) will seek another knockout on his resume when he meets former Olympian Yordenis Ugas (15-3, 7 KOs) in a welterweight tilt. The 27-year old training partner of world champion Keith Thurman, Parella will enter the bout on the strength of an 11-fight stoppage streak.

THE SMART PLAYS

We’ve got two stepping stone fights in the feature and co-feature, so don’t get cute. Kielczweski might get a few shots in against Flores, but he’s not going to be the guy that gives him his first loss. Parella is getting a cakewalk against Ugas. Take Flores and Parella, preferably in a parlay bet.
