Boxing odds - Jermall Charlo vs. Wilky Campfort in super welterweight title fight this Saturday

Jermall-Charlo-vs.-Wilky-Campfort-Nov23

New super welterweight champion Jermall Charlo is staying busy. Less than three months after knocking out Cornelius Bundrage to win the belt, Charlo is making his first title defense against “Silky” Wilky Campfort this Saturday. Most of you have probably never heard of Campfort, and that’s exactly why he’s such a huge underdog going into the bout.

ODDS ANALYSIS

Clearly, this is a showcase fight for the new champion. Charlo is returning to his native Texas with a shiny new belt and beating up on a victim is the perfect way to celebrate. Campfort hasn’t beaten anyone of note in his 21 career victories, and that isn’t going to start now.

READY TO REIGN

“I haven’t stepped out of the gym since I won the title,” said Charlo. “You get the title, you defend it. That’s the motto. I know Campfort is hungry and at the top of his game, but I’ve been training just as hard, if not harder, to defend my title. It took everything I have to get here, and it’s going to take everything I have to remain here.”

Campfort, 31, is a native Haitian fighting out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He hasn’t lost since dropping a four-round majority decision in just his second pro bout in 2009 - but the quality of his opposition has been poor, to say the least. His last bout was an entertaining slugfest with Ronald Montes this past September where Campfort came back from a first-round knockdown to knock Montes out in the second.

“I am ready to fight,” Campfort said. “I am not in this business to run. I’m not afraid of anybody. I’m coming to win a world title and achive my dream. Charlo better not underestimate me because I have only victory on my mind.”

In the co-feature, blue chip prospect and Dallas native Errol Spence Jr. will face Mexico’s Alejandro Barrerra in a 12-rounder. Spence, a 2012 U.S. Olympian, is widely regarded as one of the top prospects in the sport. He beat Samuel Vargas via fourth-round knockout in his April PBC debut, stopped Phil Lo Greco in the third on June 20, then scored a superb eighth-round TKO of Chris van Heerden this past September.

FIGHT ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION

This fight is all Charlo, all the way. Unfortunately, you’re going to have to bet a ton of money on the champion to make anything bout. My suggestion would be to parlay Charlo with Spence to win to score a better payout at Bookmaker Sportsbook. Make sure to check for prop bets, as Charlo to win by KO/TKO would also net you a higher value than Charlo to win outright.

PREDICTION: Charlo TKO 7 Campfort
