It’s a busy week for boxing at BookMaker, with an opportunity to bet on four different matchups on January 30. The big money fight of course is Sergey Kovalev vs. Jean Pascal, but there are a few other bouts you should keep your eye on. Let’s take a quick preview of this Saturday’s action.

Sergey Kovalev -2000

Jean Pascal +1000

IBA/WBA/WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev will rematch former WBC champion Jean Pascal this Saturday in Montreal, Quebec. The first time these two met, Kovalev scored a TKO victory over the Canadian. Oddsmakers don’t appear to have much faith in Pascal getting revenge in another scrap.

Kovalev is widely regarded as a top pound-for-pound fighter, and 2016 looks like a big year for the Russian. Provide he can get past Pascal, big-money matchups with Adonis Stevenson and Andre Ward loom on the horizon. Kovalev is too expensive to bet straight up to win, so make sure to check our prop bets for better value bets.

Sergey Khomitsky +180

John Ryder -215

Ukrainian Sergey Khomitsky - 30-12-3, 13 KOs - has made a career of facing British fighters. Dating back to 2009, when he lost to Martin Murray in an eight-rounder, Khomitsky is 3-3-1 against Brits. Now he’ll face John Ryder - 21-2, 12 KOs - whose only losses have come against Billie Joe Saunders and Nick Blackwell.

Interestingly enough, Khomitsky beat in 2014, so by fight math he has the ability to take out Ryder. But at 45 years old, it’s fair to assume that Khomitsky might not have much left in the tank. For Ryder to earn more title opportunities, he has to beat Khomitsky convincingly or risk getting relegated to mid-tier status.

Tommy Martin -175

John Wayne Hibbert +150

WBC international super lightweight champion John Wayne Hibbert - 16-3, 10 KOs - will defend his title against Tommy Martin -13-0, 5 KOs - on the Khomitsky-Ryder undercard. Martin is just 21 years old but is a favorite to beat Hibbert for the Commonwealth titles. The two actually happen to be friends outside of the ring, but will put aside the formalities in the ring.

It’s interesting to note that the men are also sparring partners, so they’ll be extremely familiar opponents. “We know each other inside out,” Hibbert stated. “We know what the other one is going to do, and he won’t bring anything to the table that I haven’t seen in sparring. It cannot fail to be a good fight.”

Andre Di Luisa +2500

George Groves -5000

In a gigantic mismatch on the same card, three-time world title challenger George Groves - 21-3, 16 KOs - will face mid-tier fighter in Andrea Di Luisa - 18-3, 14 KOs. The 10-rounder is a puzzling fight for Groves who is ranked No. 3 by the WBC. This is obviously a stay-busy fight for contender, and the boxing odds at BookMaker reflect that - Groves is a 50-1 favorite over the Italian.
