SUPER MIDDLEWEIGHT

Arthur Abraham +185

Gilberto Ramirez -220

Abraham - 44-4, 29 KOs - is the champ, but Ramirez - 33-0, 24 KOs - is the favorite. It’ll be a step up for Ramirez, who has been carefully matched up by Top Rank during his career. So promoter Bob Arum is taking a risk here, as there’s no doubt he’s been grooming Ramirez.

In his past four fights, the Mexican fighter has beaten Gevorg Khatchikian, Derek Edwards, Max Vlasov and Felgenio Zuniga. Not exactly a murderer’s row, and it was surprising how close the fight against Zuniga was. Still, at 24 years old, Ramirez is undoubtedly a young stud who has a bright future.

He also has a chance to make history. With a win over Abraham, he can become the first Mexican to win a super middleweight world title. He’ll have a big advantage in height and reach, standing 6’2” compared to Abraham’s 5’9”, and that is one of the biggest factors in the boxing odds at BookMaker.

FEATHERWEIGHTS

Evgeny Gradovich +650

Oscar Valdez -950

Two-time Mexican Olympian Oscar Valdez - 18-0, 16 KOs - meets former IBF champ Evgeny Gradovich - 21-1-1, 9 KOs - in a fight that should show us whether Valdez is ready to make the jump to world title contender. In just three short years, he’s quickly made his way up the ranks.

Gradovich was a titleholder for two years, making four successful defenses before losing his strap in a technical decision loss to Lee Selby. Since then, the 29-year old Russian has won his last two, most recently a 10-round decision against Jesus Galicia in a tune-up bout.

All eyes will be on Valdez, who needs to prove he can beat guys like Gradovich if he wants to be star. While the undefeated pro record is impressive, he consistently came up short against elite fighters like Vasyl Lomachenko while he was in the amateurs.
