NBA Thursday, February 22, 2024 Parlay Picks

We should see some invigorated players as the post All-Star break portion of the NBA season schedule gets underway on Thursday, Feb. 22 with 12 games on tap to make a NBA parlay. With the most recent games played a week ago guys will be rested and minor injuries likely healed as teams get ready for the final playoff push. Not needing a push, at least not right now, is the Boston Celtics, the only team to reach the 40-win mark at the break and with a six-game lead in the Eastern Conference. Boston entered the break having won six straight games but they haven’t been profitable at the betting window going 2-7-1 ATS in their past 10 games. They visit Chicago on Thursday.

Oklahoma City and the LA Clippers have one more loss than West leading Minnesota and they clash in OKC in their third and final meeting of the season. Each team has a convincing home win with the Thunder pounding out a 134-115 win in December. OKC closed the first half with identical 127-113 wins over Sacramento and Orlando covering the line both times. They are one of the most profitable teams in the NBA with payouts in over 62 percent of their games. They’ve also cashed the OVER in six straight games and played above the total in both meetings with the Clippers.

There are some injuries that can’t be healed in the span of a week and we’ll see a pair of teams dealing with such problems hook up when the Knicks visit Philadelphia. It’s been a struggle for the Sixers since MVP Joel Embiid was shelved with a knee injury dropping seven of their last 10 games. New York has issues of its own with Julius Randle and O.G. Anunoby out for another few weeks. The Knicks entered the break with four straight setbacks but appear to be a more complete team even with two pieces missing. Being a short road dog I’ll back the Knicks, who had a convincing 128-92 win in Philly last month.

I have to revisit the LA-OKC matchup just because it’s one of the more important games on the slate. With both squads tightly congested at the top of the West standings the winner has a big tie-break advantage if needed come playoff time. And the Thunder have been deadly against the Clips at home with wins and payouts in each of their last five meetings. Overall the Thunder are a much better team in their barn winning nearly 78 percent of the time with their 10.1 average margin of victory in those games the second highest in the NBA to Boston.

I also expect to see some offense with the winning team scoring at least 127 points in each of the previous three encounters. And with LA’s aging lineup getting much needed time off after a two-month surge that lifted them into the top four in the West, the Clips will come out swinging. I like backing the home team and the OVER for my NBA parlay.

The Pacific Division clash between the LA Lakers and Golden State caps TNT’s double header coverage. The Dubs attempted to pry LeBron James away at the deadline and were unsuccessful leaving them instead with a roster that’s been pretty lately. Led by Steph Curry and re-emergent Klay Thompson, the Warriors won six of seven before the break while going 6-1 ATS. The Lakers are enjoying a run of their own winning three straight and six of seven. And they’ve had Golden State’s number recently going 8-2 SU and ATS in the last 10 meetings.
