NCAA Baseball Odds - Florida vs. Texas Tech CWS Preview

The defending national champion Florida Gators got off to an ominous start in the College World Series but are hoping to make their way back into contention. Florida staved off elimination last time out and will aim for another win to edge closer to the national championship series. Next up is a do-or-die matchup against the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

Florida is a solid favorite to win this contest at a neutral park. The Red Raiders have a solid team but it’s unknown if their pitching can hold up enough to keep them alive in the tournament. Texas Tech was sitting pretty after winning its opener but fell to Arkansas last time out and now finds itself in the same position as the Gators, fighting for their postseason lives.

The College World Series participants are dwindling and Florida hopes to remain alive by capturing this contest in NCAA baseball gambling.

The College World Series contest will be held at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Nebraska. The game will take place on Thursday, June 21st, 2018, at 8 p.m. ET. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN.

Odds Analysis

Florida comes into this game as the -210 favorite, which isn’t a surprise considering it is the No. 1 overall national seed in the field. The Gators are the 1.5-run favorites against the spread and are still the -145 favorites to win this one by two runs or more.

Texas Tech is the +160 underdog on the moneyline and the +105 underdog to lose by a run or win outright. The scoring total is listed at 10 runs as the oddsmakers believe there could be several offensive outbursts in this contest.

Last Time Out

Texas Tech started off in the winner’s bracket but fell to Arkansas in its previous game by a score of 7-4. The Razorbacks jumped out to a quick lead, scoring two runs in the first inning, one in the second and two more in the fourth. Texas Tech scored two runs in the ninth inning to pull within three but that’s where the rally would end.

The Red Raiders didn’t get much out of starting pitcher Davis Martin, who threw 3.2 innings and allowed five earned runs. Texas Tech’s Brian Klein had a big hit at the plate, knocking in two with a double. The Red Raiders would have been in good position if they won this game but dug a hole for themselves from the get go and couldn’t escape it.

Florida, meanwhile, used a four-run sixth inning to take control against Texas and cruised to the 6-1 victory. Jonathan India had a big game, going 2-for-4 with four RBIs. The Gators’ pitching was dominant, led by starter Jackson Kowar, who threw 6.2 innings of shutout ball, allowing only five hits while striking out 13. He was absolutely dominant and hopes to get another chance later in the College World Series.

Free College World Series ATS Picks

The Gators are clearly the better team but baseball is hard to predict. A team that looks dominant at one point can lose it the next day. Take Texas Tech to capture this contest in an upset. Doing so will pay off nicely on the moneyline. The “over” is the pick as the Red Raiders’ bats will get going in College World Series wagering.

Florida’s attempt to win back-to-back national championships will end with an upset loss in this one.

MLB ATS Pick: Texas Tech Red Raiders 7, Florida Gators 6
