2024 LIV Golf Singapore Odds

We’ve reached the halfway point in the LIV Golf season with Jon Rahm still in search of his first victory. That hasn’t prevented the Spaniard from being the betting favorite once again as he tops the odds board when the field assembles at prestigious Sentosa Golf Club this week for LIV Golf Singapore. A rare occurrence has players competing in back-to-back weeks after Brendan Steele became the third straight first-time winner toppling the field last week in Australia. He followed wins by Dean Burmester in Miami and Abraham Ancer in Hong Kong. Rahm has finished among the top 10 in every start this season and it seems like only a matter of time before he cashes in. among others Rahm will have to contend with defending champ Talor Gooch, who captured the second of his three LIV individual trophies last year in Singapore. Odds Analysis

Sergio Garcia +2500

Just when you start to think Garcia is on the verge of winning he gets slapped down a few notches. A playoff loss in Miami last month was his third podium in his last six LIV starts. However, he followed that with a MC at the Masters and a T40 at Adelaide. He’s been too inconsistent to take seriously, but he’s had an enormous amount of success at Sentosa. He was a playoff victim here last year and in three previous visits he placed among the top 11 with a win in 2018.

Jon Rahm +650

An emerging trend has seen a first-time winner in each of the last three LIV tournaments. Surprisingly Rahm wasn’t one of them, but he’s played strong golf and is the only player to finish among the top 10 in every tournament. Rahm was within three swings of the leader in four events and placed among the top 5 four times. It seems like a matter of time before Rahm enters the winner’s circle and I’m betting the time is now.

Louis Oosthuizen +1600

Since finishing a disastrous 50th in Las Vegas in February, Oosthuizen has been on a serious heater with three runner-up showings among five top 20s in as many starts. The streak started with a second-place showing at the International Series in late February. He also collected a T2 in Jeddah and was one swing back of Steele last week. He also earned a share of seventh in Miami a few starts ago.

Cameron Smith +1600

Twice a winner in three LIV events near the end of last season, Smith has continued his run of solid play, though without a victory since Bedminster last August. Since the end of last LIV season Smith has four top 10s among seven top 20s in 10 starts worldwide. And that includes his WD from LIV Golf Miami. Following that Smith was T6 at the Masters and T14 last week in Adelaide when he was the field’s second best scrambler.

Matthew Wolff +5000

It’s been hit or miss for Wolff recently, but at least he’s hit more times recently. He has two top 5s among three top 10s in his last five completed starts and enters this tournament with a hefty price tag that just adds to his allure as an outright pick. And like I’ve mentioned on several occasions in this article, first time winners are taking over. Wolff has the game to thrive on this course and he will take advantage of the length with his driving prowess.

Course: Sentosa Golf Club – 7,406 yards, par 71

After navigating a course that measured 6,946 yards last week the field has an abrupt change with The Serapong at Sentosa Golf Club stretching to over 7,400 yards allowing the bangers to emerge. One of the most exclusive clubs in Asia, Sentosa hosted the Singapore Open with a number of now LIV golfers having participated. Ian Poulter won that event in 2009 and Sergio Garcia was victorious in 2018. One of two championship courses on the property, The Serapong opened in 1982 with a major renovation taking place in 2020. It’s still wide open off the tee with numerous bunkers serving as a defense. Holes 3-7 are known as the Dragons Tail with the 495-yard par-4 third hole the longest of its kind and the most difficult on the layout.
