UFC 245: Usman vs Covington Betting

The UFC’s penultimate PPV card of 2019 is an absolute banger. Makes you wonder what they’ve got planned for the New Year’s Eve card, which is always one of the biggest MMA nights of the year.

UFC 245: Usman vs. Covington Betting

Date: Saturday, December14th, 2019

Venue: T-Mobile Arena

Location: Las Vegas, Nevada

Honestly, it’s going to be tough to top UFC 245 in Vegas. Headlining the card is the long-awaited grudge match between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington, which is pretty much a battle of good vs. evil as far as the fans are concerned. There’s nobody as universally hated as Colby, and watching him win the undisputed championship would drive a lot of people crazy. But hey, you’ve got to give him props for making himself impossible to ignore.

The fight that most hardcore fans are excited about is the co-main: a featherweight title matchup between Max Holloway and Alexander Volkanovski. The Hawaiian is a bona fide star with a rapidly growing fanbase, and is one of the most consistently exciting fighters on the roster. He’s been so dominant that it’s been years since he’s seen any adversity at featherweight, but it seems highly unlikely that he cruises here. Volkanovski comes into the matchup with a 17-fight winning streak, most recently beating the great Jose Aldo this past May.

As if that weren’t enough, women’s MMA GOAT and double champ Amanda Nunes is back in action. This is a champion that is peaking right now as a fighter: “Lioness” has won nine straight, a run that includes knockout wins over Miesha Tate, Ronda Rousey, Cris Cyborg and Holly Holm. She also managed to beat Valentina Shevchenko twice during that time. However, Germaine de Randamie just might have the style to beat her, as “The Iron Lady” is an athletic Dutch kickboxer who has the athleticism and speed to match the Brazilian.

Also on the card: the one and only Robbie Lawler. The Ruthless one will play gatekeeper against Santiago Ponzinibbio, who has won seven straight fights. Both men are dangerous strikers, and even with so many great scraps on the card this one’s a dark horse for Fight of the Night. That’s just how Robbie rolls.

The card is still being filled out, but we’ll keep you updated as more contests get added to the card. Make sure to check in during fight week for in-depth online betting previews. UFC Betting Odds from BookMaker.eu are typically released on Monday before each event - though big fight bookings are usually available much earlier. Live MMA betting is also available to hedge any of your bets as well.

Bet on UFC Odds at BookMaker.eu

Oddsmakers opened with Usman as a slight -150 favorite, with Covington at +130 on the comeback. At this point, it’s tough to predict which way those lines will swing. On one hand, it’s tough to see Covington being able to take down Usman. But on the other, you could easily talk yourself into fading the champ based on Covington’s relentless pace and endless cardio. Usman has also been on the shelf, so recency bias might favor Colby here as well.

Blessed opened as a -200 favorite, but has seen his line move down to the -160 range. That’s some serious respect on Volkanovski’s name - and it’s well deserved. Holloway’s 14-fight win streak at 145 pounds is one of the greatest runs in UFC history, but Volkanovski presents a set of challenges that Holloway hasn’t seen before. To be honest, I see the late action going on Holloway, so if you were confident in his chances the time to bet on him is sooner rather than later.

Amanda Nunes should be the heavy favorite against GDR, but keep a close eye on this one. Aside from Valentina Shevchenko, there might not be another fighter better equipped to dethrone the Lioness. If de Randamie’s money line creeps anywhere close to +300, we think that it’s too good of a price to pass up.
