Hangzhou Spark Esports Betting Online
The Hangzhou Spark have some of the most unique branding in the Overwatch League. Hangzhou decided against using a similar color scheme or pattern as another sports team in their area, and instead decided to take their name and logo from a popular Japanese manga, A Certain Scientific Railgun. The manga has been a hit around the world since its debut in 2007, and by pairing together anime and Esports, the franchise may have struck a potential gold mine. Additionally, they are one of a handful of teams in all of sports that uses pink as a primary color, and that could lead to their merchandise being among the most popular.
Hangzhou Spark Owners
This franchise is owned by Bilibili, a Chinese online entertainment company that has a number of interests in this sphere. Bilibili creates mobile games and has a website centered around animes, comics, and games, and they are involved in the Esports scene too. They bought into the LPL (China’s League of Legends league) last year by buying veteran organization IMay, and they made the team even more competitive. This is an organization with deep pockets, and they can make the Spark into a winner rather quickly.
Hangzhou Spark Roster
Unlike almost every other team in the Overwatch League, Hangzhou didn’t leave themselves a lot of wiggle room. The Spark signed 11 players to their roster, leaving only one spot open if they wish to make a new signing at some point down the line.
Additionally, Hangzhou brought over Mask from X6-Gaming in Korea to be the head coach, and he filled the team with Korean players. Nine of the 11 members of Hangzhou are Korean, and it will be interesting to see how that plays out in terms of support.
One of the two Chinese players that Hangzhou did sign was Guxue. Guxue was the main tank for China at the Overwatch World Cup, and he was great on both Reinhardt and Winston, helping the team finish runner-up to three-time champions South Korea. Guxue was a part of LGD Gaming and he likely would have been in the Overwatch League last year had he turned 18 during the year.
The other main tank on Hangzhou is one of Mask’s former players on X6, NoSmite. NoSmite knows how to play every main tank competently, and he is likely to see some time even if Guxue is the starter.
There is familiarity as other members of X6 are on the roster too. Flex tank Ria was on that team, and he is likely to see a lot of time in the starting lineup, and DPS player GodsB and support BeBe were on that team too. GodsB is known for his McCree play, and he is primarily a hitscan DPS, while BeBe is a Zenyatta main that will dabble in Ana when the situation calls for it.
Three members from another Korean team, Seven, are on this team too. DPS players Adora and Bazzi and support Revenge are all now on Hangzhou as well. Adora is a Tracer main, that will likely fill that role for the Spark, while Bazzi is a hitscan DPS specializing in Widowmaker. Revenge plays the same champions as BeBe though, so it’s unlikely those two will ever play together.
Rounding out the roster are support Idk, flex tank Sasin, and DPS player Krystal. Idk is a Lucio main that joined from Lucky Future Zenith, while Sasin was just signed in late February. Krystal is one of those players that people are excited about, and he could be the star of the team. He was one of China’s two DPS players at the Overwatch World Cup, and he shined on Genji, McCree, and Tracer.
Hangzhou Spark 2019 Preview
If the two Chinese players can mesh with the Korean core of the team, this could be one of the top teams in the Pacific Division. Krystal and Guxue look like the two most talented players on the roster, but communication issues could plague the team early on as they learn to come together. Assuming they overcome those, the talent is there for Hangzhou to be a sleeper in their debut campaign.
