Dallas Fuel Esports Betting Online

Few teams were as disappointing as the Dallas Fuel in the first season of the Overwatch League. Dallas came into the year with lofty expectations. The Fuel were seen as the best Western team coming into the inaugural season of the league, and many believed that they could contend for the title. After all, EnVy won Overwatch APEX Season 1 and the Overwatch Contenders North America edition in 2017.

Prediction and reality were very different when it came to this team. Dallas ended the year in 10th place, only ahead of the Florida Mayhem and the winless Shanghai Dragons. Accordingly, they have undergone a lot of roster turnover this offseason in order to improve their results.

The Fuel franchise was purchased by long-time Esports organization Team EnVy. EnVy is active in most of the biggest Esports today, and their teams have typically been very successful in the FPS scene.

Dallas Fuel 2018 Year in Review

It didn’t take long for things to go off of the rails for Dallas. The Fuel had more internal dissension than any other team in the inaugural season of the Overwatch League, and their disharmonious team house dynamic quickly became the story.

First, xQc was suspended for making derogatory remarks on his Twitch stream. After he was suspended, and later kicked off the team following another incident, he shed some light on the chemistry problems the team was having on his stream. He confirmed what many believed, and it seemed the Fuel would continue to be a very talented, but very flawed team.

The Fuel won just six matches through the first three stages of the season, and half of those wins came over Shanghai. To make matters worse, the hits kept on coming as OGE was suspended for four matches for account boosting and dealing top support Custa to the Los Angeles Valiant backfired quickly.

However, Dallas was able to rally by the end of the year. The Fuel were awful in a dive meta, but they were significantly better in Stage Four’s heavy tank meta. They ended out edging out their in-state rivals, the Houston Outlaws, for a spot in the Stage Four playoffs and nearly knocked off favorites NYXL.

Dallas Fuel Roster

There are a lot of new faces on the Fuel coming into the 2019 campaign. Custa, Rascal, and xQc parted ways with the team over the course of last season, while Seagull, Cocco, and Chipshajen left over the summer.

Three of last year’s four DPS players return to the lineup. Taimou is still a very talented DPS player, and he was very good on both McCree and Widowmaker. He also showed an ability to get on tanks and non-meta champions and succeed, and he was one of the better Roadhog players this year. Effect is still one of the better Tracer players in the league, and aKm has played well too. In the offseason, the Fuel added one more player to the mix with the addition of ZachaREEE. He was one of America’s stars at the Overwatch World Cup, and many are optimistic about his future.

OGE is a very solid main tank, but Mickie really struggled throughout the 2018 campaign. His D.Va play wasn’t as good as what we saw from opposing teams, and it became clear that the Fuel needed a change. Dallas added Taimou’s Finnish teammate rCk into the mix as their flex tape, and they are hoping for much better results.

HarryHook is the only support left from the start of last year. The captain of the team was a decent support, but his play wasn’t anything special. Dallas’ decision to swap Custa for uNKOE was questioned following the former’s success, but uNKOE hasn’t been bad, and the Fuel got stronger in the back by adding Closer from London Spitfire too.

Dallas Fuel 2019 Preview

As long as the same chemistry problems don’t pop up, the Fuel should be better than they were in 2018. They are a more well-rounded team, and there has been an offseason to smooth some things over among veterans. Unfortunately for Fuel fans, Dallas seems unlikely to do much better than .500 in 2019.
