Charlo (32-1 with 16 knockouts) lost his belt to Tony Harrison (28-2 with 21 knockouts) in the same ring his brother just boxed in, so he is hoping a change of venue bodes well in the rematch between these two fighters.

Although Tony Harrison is the current title holder, Jermell Charlo is favored to reclaim the strap according to the boxing betting odds. While Harrison won the first fight between these two boxers by unanimous decision, his victory was questioned in boxing circles as the bout went the distance and Charlo landed more punches.

To those unfamiliar with betting on boxing, these betting odds mean that you would have to wager $250 on Charlo to return $100 in profit. If you want the unusual opportunity of betting on a champion as an underdog, a $100 bet on Harrison would earn you $194 in profit.

As the fight nears, there will be decision betting too. You will be able to bet on whether the fight is decided by KO, TKO, or decision, and you can bet on which boxer will win the fight in that fashion as well.

Tony Harrison vs. Jermell Charlo Preview

Harrison’s first professional fight was on the undercard of a Wladimir Klitschko title fight in Germany, so maybe he received some tips from one of the greatest modern heavyweights. Harrison won that fight by TKO in the first round, and he won his next three bouts in the same manner to begin his professional career.

He kept the knockouts up and ran his record to 21-0 before suffering his first defeat. Harrison lost by TKO in the ninth round to Willie Nelson in Tampa in July 2015, sidetracking his climb up the ranks. He won his next three fights to earn his first title shot though, but he was defeated by Jarrett Hurd by TKO in the ninth round in February 2017.

Harrison won three more fights in short order to earn another title shot, but Charlo appeared to be looking past Harrison and concentrating on Hurd in their first bout. The challenger took advantage, using his jab to keep Charlo off guard, and he dealt Charlo his first loss.

Charlo began his professional career before his 18th birthday. He showed great quickness and agility early in his career, and promoters saw they had something special with the twin brothers. Jermell had to wait for a while to receive his first title shot though, pushing his record to 27-0 before he finally received a title shot.

In May 2016, Charlo became a world champion for the first time. He beat John Jackson by TKO in the eighth round to claim the WBC Light Middleweight strap, claiming his first title less than a year after his twin brother. Jermell Charlo knocked out his next two opponents in short order, but Austin Trout gave him trouble and Charlo had to settle for a majority decision win.

Charlo was intending to use the Harrison fight as a stepping stone, but he must first earn his title back before getting a potential shot at Hurd.
