World Boxing Association World Super Middleweight Title

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez is one of the greatest and most highly regarded active boxers in any weight class and highly popular with gamblers. Alvarez is currently ranked number one in the world. At age 28 Canelo has hit his prime. The native of Guadalajara, Mexico still resides there. Alvarez stands at 5’8” with a reach of 70.5” and fights from an orthodox stance.

Canelo last stepped into the ring on September 15, 2018 and took on Gennady Golovkin in a rematch of their fight from September 16, 2017. The first bout ended in a split decision draw at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The rematch also took place at that same venue and Alvarez prevailed with a majority decision to win the International Boxing Organization, World Boxing Association, and World Boxing Council world middleweight title belts.

Canelo tested positive for a banned substance last spring but claimed it was all because of Mexican beef that he ate which is prepared differently from American beef. It seems to have now blown over after his win over Golovkin which was instrumental in getting the attention of fans and gamblers back on his world class fighting ability.

Canelo is perhaps best known for the only loss of his career which was against Floyd Mayweather Jr on September 14, 2013 in a 12 round majority decision.

Rocky Fielding is 31 years old and ranked sixth in the world. Fielding is a native of the United Kingdom where he still resides in Warrington. Fielding fights from an orthodox stance and is coming off a championship triumph.

In his last bout that took place on July 14, 2018 Fielding met Tyron Zeuge at the Baden Arena in Offenburg for the World Boxing Association World Super Middleweight title. Fielding scored a fifth-round technical knockout win in a fight that was scheduled for 12 rounds. Zeuge went down in the fifth round. It was the first major title of Fielding’s career.

Fielding has been a pro since 2010 and suffered his only defeat on November 7, 2015 against Callum Smith in a bout that was for the World Boxing Council Silver and British Super middleweight titles.

Rocky Fielding vs. Canelo Alvarez

Canelo Alvarez has been bet up because of his vast public notoriety. Beyond that Alvarez has the far more impressive body of work against the top names in the sport. Fielding is not nearly as well known and has a much lighter resume. While the price is high for Canelo its understandable.
