Miguel Berchelt is the defending World Boxing Council World Super Featherweight champion and has successfully defended his title belt five times after originally winning the championship on January 28, 2017 when he scored a knockout win over Francisco Vargas.
Berchelt is 27 years old and a native of Cancun, Mexico. Also known as “El Alacran” he now resides in Merida, Mexico. Berchelt is ranked number one in the world and stands at five feet, seven inches tall with a reach of 71 inches while fighting from an orthodox stance.
In his last bout on May 11, 2019, Berchelt defeated Francisco Vargas in a sixth round RTD in a fight that was scheduled for 12 rounds at the Convention Center in Tucson, Arizona. With the win Berchelt successfully defended his World Boxing Council World Super Featherweight title.
Berchelt faced Miguel Roman on November 3, 2018 in defense of his World Boxing Council World Super Featherweight title at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas. Berchelt scored a ninth-round technical knockout win in a fight that was scheduled for 12 rounds.
Berchelt’s only career loss was back in March of 2014 in a first-round knockout agiasnt Armando Mariscal.
Jason Sosa is ranked 12th in the world and is a 31-year-old native of Camden, New Jersey where he still resides. Sosa stands at five feet, six inches tall with a reach of 67 inches and fights from an orthodox stance. He briefly held the World Boxing Association regular super featherweight title from June 2016 until April of 2017 and has been chasing the shot at regaining a title ever since.
In his last bout on August 10, 2019, Jason Sosa won a seventh-round technical knockout over Haskell Lydell Rhodes at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Rhodes went down twice in the fifth round and once in the seventh round. It was the third consecutive win for Sosa.
