Alexander Povetkin, age 40, is a former World Boxing Association heavyweight champion. On two occasions he fought for the unified heavyweight title. Povetkin is a former Gold Medal winner at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games in the super heavyweight division. Povetkin is a native and resident of Russia. He stands at six feet, two inches tall with a reach of 75 inches and fights from an orthodox stance. Povetkin is ranked fifth in the world.
Povetkin last stepped into the ring on December 7, 2019 when he faced Michael Hunter at the Diriyah Arena in Diriyah. The fight ended in a split decision draw.
Whyte is coming off a 10-round unanimous decision over Mariusz Wach, also on December 7, 2019 at the Diriyah Arena in Diriyah.
