Adam Kownacki (20-0 with 15 knockouts) will take on Robert Helenius (29-3 with 18 knockouts) in the Big Apple in a WBA Heavyweight Title eliminator bout. This fight will be broadcast on FOX and FOX Deportes, and coverage will start at 8 p.m. ET.

When: Saturday, March 7, 2020

Where: Barclays Center, New York City, New York

Why: WBA Heavyweight Eliminator

Adam Kownacki vs. Robert Helenius Betting Odds

There have yet to be boxing betting odds released for this bout, but Kownacki is likely to be the favorite as he is undefeated coming into this tilt.

To those unfamiliar with betting on boxing, if Kownacki opens as a -400 favorite in this bout, you have to bet $400 on him to win $100 in profit. Those odds would probably lead to the experienced Helenius being a +300 underdog, so a $100 bet on him would return $300 in profit if he were to pull off the upset.

As the fight nears, there will be decision betting too. You will be able to bet on whether the fight is decided by KO, TKO, or decision, and you can bet on which boxer will win the fight in that fashion as well.

Adam Kownacki vs. Robert Helenius Preview

Kownacki has been dubbed “Babyface”, but anyone that has seen his power knows not to use that in a derogatory manner. He hasn’t fought often since turning pro in 2009, but he has worked his way up the ladder after a nearly three-year hiatus from July 2010 to April 2013.

The Polish-born boxer is experienced with the venue, as 10 of his last 12 fights have been at the Barclays Center. He won his first nine bouts by knockout before Ytalo Perea took him to the cards in May 2015. Kownacki won that bout by unanimous decision, and he has won all of his fights that went the distance by unanimous decision too.

His first big victory came over fellow Pole Artur Szpilka in July 2017, and his profile has risen with each successive bout. Kownacki knocked out Iago Kiladze in the sixth round two years ago, and he won a unanimous decision over Charles Martin in September 2019. In his last two fights, he scored a second round TKO over Gerald Washington in January 2019, and he won a unanimous decision over Chris Arreola in August.

Helenius has spent the vast majority of his career fighting across the pond in Europe. He claimed the European Union heavyweight belt in August 2010 with a sixth-round TKO win over Gregory Tony, and he ran his record to 22-0 before taking on Johann Duhaupas for the vacant WBC Silver heavyweight belt in April 2016.

Duhaupas dealt the “Nordic Nightmare” the first loss of his career. He was knocked out in the sixth round by the Frenchman, and when he challenged Dillian Whyte for that same belt in October 2017, he lost a unanimous decision.

Since that last loss, Helenius has been on the outskirts of the division to a degree. Two of his last five fights were in Estonia, and he was knocked out by Gerald Washington in the eighth round the last time he fought in the United States.
