NBA Betting odds: The Golden State Warriors will begin their quest of reaching the NBA Finals for a third straight season when they meet up with the Portland Trail Blazers in the Western Conference quarterfinals. These teams met up in the postseason last year when Steph Curry and company quickly disposed of Rip City in five games. Portland has failed to advance past the semis each of the last two times they had the opportunity to do so, and will pay off a huge return if they somehow manage to spring what would be a shocking first round upset.
Portland Trail Blazers vs. Golden State Warriors
Dates: Sunday, April 16 – Sunday, April 30, 2017
The Blazers can put points on the board with the best of them. Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum form one of the more dynamic guard duos in the league, but each enters the postseason a bit dinged up. Portland will need each to be at their best with the defense, a unit that concedes 108.5 points per game, likely unable to limit the Warriors potent attack. Golden State averaged 125 points in the rival’s four regular season meetings. These teams last ran with each other at the end of January. The first three meetings saw the Warriors win by an average of 25.3 points per game. That final meeting saw the Blazers fall by a bucket at home as 6 point dogs.
While the Dubs weren’t nearly as lucrative a team to back as they were throughout 2015-16, Steve Kerr’s troops still earned the top seed in the West even though it suffered a myriad of injuries over the course of the regular season. Kevin Durant is now healthy and back in the lineup making Golden State’s offense even more ferocious than it already was. Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green put together a 14 game win streak at the tail end of the season that allowed them to lock down the West’s No. 1 seed. They covered 11 of those games and have home court advantage throughout the playoffs. Golden State only lost five home games all season ( 21-18-2 ATS ).
