NBA Betting odds: The Southeast Division was the worst in the Eastern Conference this season. It only took the Washington Wizards tallying 49 wins to take home the title. The Atlanta Hawks were right behind them with 43. From a betting perspective, these teams were nearly identical with the Wizz covering their games at a 42-39-1 clip and the Hawks covering 39 of their 82 played games. Washington scored the only road win in the regular season, but Atlanta only dropped its pair of visits to D.C by an average of 3.5 points per game. This series has the look of possibly going the distance.

Atlanta scored the 114-99 home win and cover as 4 point chalk against Washington in both teams season opener way back on October 27. That ended up being the teams only win against the Wizz. The other three played to lower scorers, and in two of those three games, the Hawks had an opportunity to win. Though Washington has one of the worst defenses of all playoff entrants, Atlanta can’t allow itself to get into a shooting match. Instead, they’ll have to rely upon their No. 4 ranked defensive efficiency to control the proceedings and keep it lower scoring. If they do that, this could end up being one of the better first round matchups.
There isn’t a playoff entrant out of the East that was a bigger moneymaker than that of Washington when at home. It covered 23 of its 41 games played in front of the hometown faithful, and owned the second best home record in the East at 30-11. It just so happens to possess home court advantage in this round, so if indeed this series reaches its limit, the Wizz should be in good shape to advance to the conference semifinals for the second time in the last three years. Atlanta’s got the size, but the 1-2 punch of John Wall and Bradley Beal should be too much for it to overcome.
