They have yet to be challenged in this year’s tourney. They are coming off easy wins against Stetson, Northwestern, San Diego State, Illinois and Alabama. The Huskies are a solid favorite to beat Purdue and win their second straight national title.

Connecticut improved to 11-1 all-time in Final Four Games in the NCAA Tournament with the 86-72 win over Alabama. The Huskies have won 11 straight NCAA tournament games going back to last year with an average margin of victory of 22 points. "The offense is super-efficient. We're top four in defense. We rebound the heck out of the ball. We can bunch up stops and then we score a lot. You get stops, you score," UConn coach Dan Hurley said to the media, "I think we've got a lot of confidence. There's a factor with teams now that they've seen us play, where we get on a run. I think it's disheartening for the other team because they've seen i. They've seen us do it a lot."

Freshman Stephon Castle had 21 points to lead the Huskies, while sophomore center Donovan Clingan added 18. Connecticut had 38 points in the paint compared to Alabama's 26. Alabama was in the game in the second half, as the teams were tied at 56 with 12:41 to play but Connecticut went on an 8-0 run and was never threated again.

Purdue Boilermakers

The Boilermakers are listed as a solid underdog in Monday’s title game. Purdue looked really good in the first two rounds, as they routed Grambling and Utah State. Purdue then had a very good second half and took out Gonzaga in the Sweet Sixteen. The Boilermakers had a tough game in the Elite Eight, but they were able to get past Tennessee to reach the Final Four. Purdue was heavily favored against NC State in the Final Four and took out this year’s Cinderella, winning by 13 points. The Boilermakers are led by one of the top players in the country in Zach Edey who is having an NCAA Tournament for the ages. Edey had 40 points in the Elite Eight win over Tennessee and he had 20 points in the win over the Wolfpack.

The Boilermakers won 63-50 over NC State in the Final Four. Lance Jones scored 14 points, while Fletcher Loyer finished with 11 points and Mason Gillis chipped in eight. "It's everything," Loyer said to the media, "It's everything we've worked for, everything we've thought about. A lot of late nights, (you) can't even sleep because you're thinking about it."

The Boilermakers took control of the game late in the second half when they went on a 14-1 run. Purdue led 61-43 with 3:24 to go. NC State scored the last 7 points of the game to make the final margin 13 points. Purdue led NC State 35-29 at the half. "It was one of those grinder-type games where we made a few more shots, a few more threes," Purdue head coach Matt Painter said to the media, "Obviously (we) wanted to keep establishing Zach inside, kind of playing off of that in terms of (how) they were doing some different things with him ... and then being able to attack at that point or take the threes that we were given. We made enough of those."
