College Football Week 10 Best Bets

Week 10 college football arrives with the national title chase tightening and multiple undefeated teams facing crucial November tests. Saturday college football beings in Columbus, where top-ranked Ohio State hosts Penn State in a Big Ten battle that carries major playoff implications as the Buckeyes look to maintain their perfect record against a Nittany Lions squad desperate to get back on track. With conference titles and the playoff picture at stake, the pressure ratchets up as the season enters its defining stretch.

The SEC remains the national focal point, as Vanderbilt—the surprise of the season—heads to Texas with both programs fighting for position atop the league and in the playoff race. The Commodores, riding historic momentum and a top-10 ranking, meet the Longhorns’ potent offense in a contest with major bowl and postseason stakes. Meanwhile, Georgia and Florida clash in Jacksonville, with both rivals aiming to solidify their standing after hard-fought Octobers.

A pivotal SEC showdown also unfolds in Knoxville, where Oklahoma looks to rebound from a damaging 34-26 home loss to Ole Miss. The Sooners visit Tennessee at Neyland Stadium with their playoff hopes in jeopardy and little margin for error. The Volunteers, coming off a road shootout win at Kentucky, seek a signature victory in front of their home crowd to bolster their own playoff resume.

Elsewhere, the ACC’s crowded title hunt features unbeaten Georgia Tech facing a road test at NC State, while Indiana’s perfect run is on the line at Maryland in the Big Ten. As conference races crystallize and every outcome affects the national postseason landscape, Week 10 stands as a key checkpoint—one where contenders must prove their staying power and hopefuls fight to keep their dreams alive.

Week 10 delivers the type of high-stakes college football that defines championship seasons, with prime television coverage across all major networks ensuring fans won't miss any of the action. From afternoon clashes to primetime spectacles, the weekend promises the kind of memorable moments that college football fans live for, with multiple games carrying both immediate and long-term consequences for the playoff chase.

The Vanderbilt Commodores arrive in Austin riding high with a 7-1 mark and immense momentum after recent wins over tough opponents. Their offense, led by quarterback Diego Pavia, has been highly productive, averaging 38.4 points per game and their defense has held teams to under 19 points per outing. This week they face a chance for a signature victory in conference play at Texas, a team they narrowly lost to in their last meeting. The contest gives Vanderbilt an opportunity to build a bona fide résumé in the upper-tier of the conference.

Texas, meanwhile, comes into the game at 6-2 with some warts showing. While the Longhorns have won three straight and boast a strong home presence, their offense has been inconsistent and questions linger about quarterback Arch Manning and it could be Manning doesn’t even play this week, as he was in concussion protocol early in the week. Defensively, though, Texas remains stout, yielding just 14.6 points per game.

With home-field advantage at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium and needing a strong showing to stay in the playoff conversation, Texas must control Vanderbilt’s dynamic attack—particularly their passing game and explosive plays. The matchup could come down to which team forces turnovers and wins the trench battles.

3:30 p.m. | Georgia vs. Florida | ABC

The Bulldogs come into this big rivalry matchup riding a strong 6-1 start and aiming to keep their trajectory toward an SEC title and playoff appearance. Their offense has found rhythm—in particular the running game which has averaged well over 190 rushing yards per matchup this season. On the other side, the Gators (3-4) are going through turbulence, having recently made coaching changes which always inject uncertainty for a single week.

The edge clearly belongs to Georgia, but the rivalry nature of this contest means Florida will be looking to spark something and flip the script. It’s also a critical moment for Georgia’s defense, which though talented has shown some vulnerability in recent games—particularly on third downs and in containing explosive plays.

Florida, meanwhile, has struggled with consistency, especially in turnover margin and finishing drives. That said, the environment of this matchup (neutral site in Jacksonville) and its emotional weight mean the Gators have the potential to at least make this a dogfight. If Georgia wants to avoid a trap, they’ll need to impose their physicality early and limit Florida’s opportunities for momentum shifts.

Tennessee comes into this one riding a potent offense that ranks among the country’s best: the Volunteers average about 510 yards per game and 45.6 points per outing, both top-5 national marks. Defensively, however, they’ve had issues: they rank near the bottom nationally in passing yards allowed and give up around 30.9 points per game. In short, Tennessee must score freely and play the complementary half (defense/special teams) to keep control.

Oklahoma, by contrast, has leaned on a stifling defense which ranks among the elite: they allow only 240 yards per game, are top-10 in both pass and rush defense, and surrender just 12.5 points per game. Offensively, though, the Sooners have been subpar, averaging just 376 yards and 28.4 points per game. They’ll need those defenses to carry more weight than usual if they want to pull off the win on the road. The matchup may well come down to whether Oklahoma’s defense can slow Tennessee’s high-octane offense AND whether the Sooners can find enough offense to avoid a blowout.
