NFL ATS Picks - San Francisco 49ers at Seattle Seahawks Game Preview

49ers-at-Seahawks-(FOX)-bm

Seattle has tended to start slowly the past few seasons so it is nothing to be completely alarmed about, but the Seahawks would like to show some potency scoring points so they feel better about themselves moving forward. The 49ers are in rebuilding mode and while the new regime is pointing them in the right direction, it will take some time to see the fruits of their labor.

Seattle will be a heavy favorite take care of business against San Francisco at home in this matchup.

This contest in Week 2 of the regular season will go down Sunday, September 17, 2017, at 4:25 p.m. ET at CenturyLink Stadium.

Odds Analysis

The Seahawks are the biggest favorites in Week 2 and yet that’s not keeping the bettors away from them. More than 81 percent of the action has chosen Seattle to cover this spread. The scoring total is pretty low as San Francisco is not expected to get much going offensively. Even so, the “under” is being hammered at an 80 percent clip.

The Seahawks are a -1000 favorite on the moneyline, while the 49ers are +664 underdogs. San Francisco would certainly pay off nicely, but it is quite a longshot for the 49ers to pull off what would be an incredible upset.

Injury Report

Reuben Foster -- The 49ers’ rookie linebacker looked impressive in the preseason but suffered a high ankle sprain in the opener against the Carolina Panthers. He is expected to miss a couple of weeks. Foster and NaVorro Bowman form a nice duo in the middle of the defense for San Francisco but it won’t be present for a while until Foster gets healthy.

Thomas Rawls -- The Seahawks running back missed the opener but is expected to play in this one. Seattle’s Eddie Lacy, a free agent addition, did next to nothing on the ground against the Packers and Rawls should immediately ascend to the featured running back role. Seattle’s running game is now what it used to be when Marshawn Lynch was in town, but Rawls hopes to inject some life into it.

Matchup To Watch

Seattle offensive line vs. San Francisco defensive line: The Seahawks are going to have the advantage nearly everywhere but this is one the 49ers could dominate. San Francisco has poured a lot of resources into its defensive front while the Seahawks protection unit is easily the worst group on the team.

If Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has time he will likely have a big day, but if San Francisco can get after him consistently, it will put the 49ers in great position to cover this spread.

Free ATS Pick

The Seahawks have some things to figure out, but this is a get-well game. They are playing at home against an inferior opponent and the Seattle defense should dominate. The Seahawks, though, need the offense to start clicking, not necessarily to claim this victory but for the future.

San Francisco will try its best to hang around and cover the spread, but things might snowball as the crowd will give Seattle a nice boost. Look for a blowout to commence in the second half as the Seattle defense overwhelms the 49ers. Take the Seahawks to not only win this game but cover the spread. The “under” is the right call as San Francisco is going to have a tough time putting points on the board.

NFL Odds: Seahawks 24, 49ers 10
