The LCS returns to Summoner’s Rift on Friday night. After dismal ratings with putting the LCS on Monday night, the league is hoping to draw more eyeballs to League of Legends in North America with two games every Friday night in the 2020 LCS Summer Split. To that end, there will be a rematch of the Spring Split Finals on Friday as Cloud9 takes on FlyQuest in the second of two games. The most hyped game of the first week will certainly be Team Liquid vs. Team SoloMid on Saturday though.... 

There’s no doubt that G2 Esports are the team to beat coming into the 2020 LEC Summer Split. G2 have won the last three European titles, and they are far and away more talented than any other team in the region. They will kick off the Summer Split this Friday, June 12, when they face the team that gave them the most trouble in the spring, the MAD Lions. ... 

After putting together one of the best splits in the history of the LCS, Cloud9 is the odds-on favorite to win the 2020 LCS Summer Split. C9 went 17-1 in the regular season and only dropped one game in the postseason to finish the Spring Split with an overall record of 26-2. Team Liquid is still a contender after winning four straight splits prior to spring, while Team SoloMid made some big moves over the last month to try to get back to their winning ways.... 

The LEC Summer Split appears to be a two-horse race between G2 Esports and Fnatic yet again. These two organizations have combined to win all but one European League of Legends title, and they are the overwhelming favorites to win this year’s championship. G2 Esports have won the last three LEC titles, and they crushed Fnatic in the Spring Split Finals back in mid-April. That has led to the oddsmakers installing ...

Fans of League of Legends from around the world were disappointed when it was announced there would be no Mid-Season Invitational, but the Mid-Season Cup is the next best thing. Four teams from China’s LPL will square off against four teams from Korea’s LCK for regional bragging rights in a four-day affair that will be jam packed with action. You can’t afford a bad game if you want to advance to the next round, so the pressure will be on all the teams involved in this competitio... 

While most Esports have been able to adapt to the challenges caused by the coronavirus, DotA 2 has struggled. There has only been one premier level tournament held so far this season, and The International might have to be cancelled too. This game’s tournaments are much more international than other games, and that has really affected teams and prize pools. That puts added emphasis on teams to perform well at ESL One Birmingham.... 

There will be no Mid-Season Invitational this year because of COVID-19, but the four best teams from China and Korea will take part in a tournament next week to give League of Legends fans some international action before the domestic leagues start back up in summer. The Mid-Season Cup will take place in late May over a span of four days, and there will be $600,000 and bragging rights at stake. A team from Korea or China has won each of the last seven World Championships, and while Korea has won more titles, China has defeated Korea in Rift Rivals in two of the three tournaments. ... 

The CS:GO action keeps coming, and we will see the best teams in North America take part in DreamHack Masters Spring: North America next week. Gen. G is riding high after their surprising victory at ESL One: Road to Rio North America, but they aren’t one of the top five favorites entering this event. Instead, Team Liquid are the favorites per the Esports betting odds despite a lackluster performance during the Road to Rio qualifying tournament. We’ll see whether that’s wise or folly in a couple weeks. ... 

The best CS:GO teams in Europe have been at it for almost three weeks now. Qualifying for the ESL One: Road to Rio event has been intense. ESL One: Road to Rio is set to be the most lucrative tournament in the history of CS:GO when it takes place in six months with a prize pool of $2 million, and every team wants a piece of that pie. Most of the 16 European teams taking part in the qualifying will participate in the Rio major, but they will be slotted in at different levels depe... 

A previous champion is now guaranteed to win the CBLOL Spring Split title following the surprising results of the semifinals. Vivo Keyd was a considerable favorite over KaBum Esports in the first semifinal after finishing the season in first place. KaBuM needed to play an extra game in order to qualify for the postseason, but they proved they belong in the playoffs by smashing Vivo Keyd 3-0 last weekend. Meanwhile, Flamengo Esports took care of business against FURIA Uppercut, sweeping them 3-0 to force a rematch of the 2018 Split 2 Finals with KaBuM. ... 

The Dallas Empire won the last Call of Duty event two weeks ago, topping the Atlanta FaZe at COD League: Chicago. However, Atlanta is the favorite coming into this week’s event that was scheduled to be in Florida as the Empire and the Chicago Huntsmen aren’t slated to play. Those three teams have won four of the five tournaments played to date in the COD League, and they have advanced to the knockout rounds in every week of action. That makes this Atlanta’s tournament to lose, and a victory here... 

We are more than halfway through the Group Stage in the ESL One: Road to Rio qualifying events. The chalk has largely held up in both Europe and North America, but we have seen some top teams struggle. Evil Geniuses are in real trouble of not making it to the knockout rounds in NA, while Fnatic is now in a little bit of a pickle too in Europe. They will both be out to make statement victories this weekend. ... 

A first-time champion will be crowned in the LPL this weekend. JD Gaming and Top Esports are both debutantes to this stage. Both teams beat a former World Champion in the LPL Spring Split Semifinals to get to this point with JD Gaming knocking off FunPlus Phoenix and Top Esports defeating Invictus Gaming, and one of these teams will make history with their win. JD Gaming are the favorites after a stronger regular season and a more impressive victory in the semifinals, but Top Esports are a live underdog. ...

The first round of the LEC Spring Split Playoffs gave us perhaps the biggest upset we’ve ever seen during the postseason in Europe. G2 Esports were a massive favorite to beat MAD Lions and advance in the winner’s bracket, but their overaggressive playstyle came back to bite them squarely in the rear end. They lost in five games to get bumped down to the loser’s bracket, giving MAD ... 

The LCS Spring Split Playoffs will start this week with Evil Geniuses and FlyQuest squaring off on Saturday, and Cloud9 and 100 Thieves meeting on Sunday. G2 Esports are odds-on favorites to win their seventh LEC title in the past nine splits. Winning the 2020 LEC Spring Split would draw G2 level with Fnatic as the most successful League of Legends organization in European history, and it’s going to be difficult to beat them in a double-elimination format after Fnatic and Origen both failed to beat them in the regular season. After a week off due to the coronavirus, the LCS is back in action this weekend. Like other League of Legends leagues around the world, the LCS will move to an online format, eschewing the crowds and the studios we’ve grown accustomed to over the last few years.
