Overwatch League Stage 2 Final Week

We really haven’t covered the Overwatch League much in 2019. Most of our attention has been focused on League of Legends, but it’s time to make amends and look closely at the Overwatch League with the Stage 2 Playoffs rapidly approaching. Last week, the Overwatch League made history by moving outside its Los Angeles home for the first time ever in the regular season. Dallas was the site of eight matches, and the Dallas Fuel were the first team outside of Los Angeles to host a game. That has sparked more interest in the league midway through its second season.

Overwatch League Stage 2 Final Week Betting Odds

Dallas Fuel -645
Florida Mayhem +450

A lot has changed from the inaugural season of the Overwatch League, but the Florida Mayhem are still one of the worst teams in the league. The Mayhem are 1-12 coming into this game, and their decision to move from a Scandinavian lineup to a Korean lineup has had no real impact. Florida knocked off the Philadelphia Fusion in the second week of Stage 1, but they have not won a match aside from that.

The last time we saw Florida, the Mayhem lost to last year’s punching bag Shanghai Dragons. Sayaplayer and Xepher had good performances, but the Mayhem didn’t get good play from their tanks and they were a little too cautious against an aggressive Shanghai team. They completely collapsed on the final map, allowing Shanghai to breeze through the map with one of the fastest times this season, and they failed to take the first point when it was their turn to be on the attack.

Dallas is still buzzing after hosting matches last week, and the Fuel will be out to carry that momentum into this week. They are 8-5 on the year, and Dallas is a heavy favorite to take care of business against the Mayhem. They have a massive advantage in terms of their tanks as OGE has been a great main tank, and Unkoe has been great in support.

Esports Betting

San Francisco Shock -720
Philadelphia Fusion +495

The Shock have been one of the stories of the season. San Francisco made it to the Stage One Playoffs and swept the Toronto Defiant and the Philadelphia Fusion to face the undefeated Vancouver Titans. Vancouver had dropped just six maps in Stage 1, but the Shock nearly pulled off a stunning upset. They eventually lost to the Titans 4-3 in an incredible final, but they have carried that momentum over into Stage 2.

San Francisco has yet to drop a map in Stage 2. The Shock are 5-0 with 4-0 sweeps in all five of their matches this stage. They are gunning to be the No. 1 seed entering the Stage One Playoffs, as this team has come together with Sinatraa taking his play to another level.

Philadelphia has fallen back down to become a middle of the pack team, and the Fusion are 3-3 entering this series. A loss will knock them out of contention to make the Stage 2 Playoffs, but it’s tough to see the Fusion beating a team clicking on all cylinders.

Guangzhou Charge -280
Houston Outlaws +225

These have been two of the worst teams in Stage 2. Guangzhou is sitting near the bottom of the table at 1-5, but Houston has been abysmal this stage. The Outlaws have just two map wins in five matches, and they have been blasted on a number of maps. They finally played somewhat well against rivals Dallas last week, so I’m going to roll the dice on them as an underdog.
