The first week went according to script in the LEC Spring Split. I thought Team Vitality would be able to put up a fight against a red hot Fnatic team, but that turned out to be false. Fnatic smashed Vitality in all three games of a 3-0 sweep with Fnatic racking up 27 kills in under 22 minutes. The other series was more competitive, but not by too much. Splyce played their typical late-game style and cruised to a 3-1 win over SK Gaming.
Now, it’s time for the top two teams in the regular season to get involved. However, Europe is switching things up a little this split. Traditionally, the highest-seeded team would face the lowest-seeded team at this point, but the top two teams will instead square off with the winner of G2 and Origen moving on to the finals. The loser will face the winner of Fnatic and Splyce for the second spot in the finals next Saturday.

Fnatic -500
Splyce +375
Fnatic was the hottest team in Europe over the last month of the regular season, and they have kept it going in the playoffs. They have now won 11 straight games, and they have won both of their previous meetings with Splyce. Top lane Bwipo and AD Carry Rekkles dominated in both games, and Splyce will have to find a way to have success in those two lanes.
This is a very tough match-up for Splyce. Splyce are a team that wants to win in the late game, but they are facing the best late game AD Carry in Europe in Rekkles, and Fnatic are a team that jumps on you early and doesn’t let go.
Earlier in the season, you could argue that Splyce could win in the mid lane. Nemesis was having a world of trouble in the mid lane for Fnatic, but his turnaround has cued Fnatic’s resurgence. He crushed Humanoid in the mid lane a few weeks ago, and he was brilliant against Vitality.
It’s just hard to see a way Splyce win this series. Xerxe has the potential to get his lanes ahead in the jungle, but Broxah has been a superior jungler this year and I don’t trust Splyce to snowball a lead. Their games stall for a reason, while Fnatic will snowball a lead.
G2 Esports -235
Origen +190
We’ll see whether or not G2’s late season struggles were complacency or the sign of something bigger in this series. G2 has the best player in the region in mid laner Caps, and the battle between him and Nukeduck will be PPV quality.
The only player in Europe that could have more micro skill than Caps is Nukeduck. Origen dealt G2 their first loss of the season back in mid-February, and it was Nukeduck’s performance on Zed that got the job done. He had five kills, four assists, and one death on the assassin in a statement performance.
Nukeduck will have to beat Caps in the mid lane, because if the laning phase is relatively even, that’s advantage G2. G2 have the advantages in every other position. I trust Wunder more than Alphari in the top lane, and Jankos is a significantly better jungler than Kold (although Kold has been fantastic on Rek’Sai).
The bottom lane is more even, but I still like G2’s pair of Perkz and Mikyx more than Patrik and Mithy. Perkz has had his hiccups in AD Carry, yet his mechanics have been top notch. G2 have been in this position before too, and their veterans will be key.
