League of Legends Picks

It took nearly the entire season to see separation among the middle of the pack in the LCS. Team Liquid has been the best team in the region all year long and just wrapped up the No. 1 seed last week. Cloud9 needs just one win to finish second and Team SoloMid will finish third, but the other three playoff spots were complete toss-ups prior to last week. Now, FlyQuest is in the playoffs and set to be either No. 4 or No. 5, and Golden Guardians is in a very good position to make the postseason. Three teams are gunning for that last playoff spot.

League of Legends NA LCS Spring Split 2019 Week 9 Betting Odds

Cloud9 -257
FlyQuest +208

A surprising loss to Echo Fox last week meant that Cloud9 isn’t locked into the No. 2 seed just yet, but it’s hard to see them losing both of their games this week.

This game will be the more challenging of the two though. FlyQuest have been a solid, disciplined team and they have come together in the past two weeks. They pulled off a nice upset over Liquid last week and they have now won four straight games. Pobelter continues to be solid in the mid lane, and no one is slacking.

I think they have a decent chance of pulling off the upset against Cloud9. I usually back C9 in this spot, but FlyQuest’s consistency has me believing in their chances at this price.

Team Liquid -365
Echo Fox +285

There is a ton of value in Echo Fox here, as Liquid really have nothing to play for. They have already wrapped up the No. 1 seed in the LCS, and we have seen first-place teams in other regions use this time to try new strategies or just have a little fun prior to playoffs.

Echo Fox saved their season after an upset of Cloud9 last week. Fenix’s late game Azir was phenomenal and getting Echo Fox over the line, and they might draft a late-game scaling lineup in order to find success once again.

OpTic Gaming +119
Golden Guardians -139

I figured the Guardians would be bigger favorites here. They have been incredibly scrappy, and although they are 4-3 in their last seven games, those three losses have come against the top three teams in the region. Deftly was fantastic on Jinx against Clutch Gaming last week, and Froggen has been solid on damage dealing mid laners.

OpTic needs to win this game to keep their plays alive, but I don’t see it. Dhokla has had a really tough go of it in the top lane, and he now has a flat 1 KDA. That’s not a good sign coming into this game.

Team SoloMid -365
Clutch Gaming +285

I think TSM might have a little fun here, and that’s why this line is so low. However, I don’t think Clutch has the talent to take advantage. A loss here kills Clutch’s playoff chances, and I think some early game aggression from TSM will dishearten them. They just don’t have any favorable skill match-ups, and Huni is not the top laner he used to be.

100 Thieves +120
Counter Logic Gaming -140

This is a great spot to take CLG in. 100 Thieves have packed it in for the summer after a complete collapse. They are 1-9 in their last ten, and there is no impetus for them to go all out considering they are set to miss the playoffs no matter what.

Meanwhile, CLG have the playoffs in their sights. The veteran organization has done some unorthodox things, but they should be able to win their battles in the top lane and mid lane, and that will give them the win.
