League of Legends NA LCS Spring 2019 Week 4

Through three weeks, we still don’t have a ton of separation in the NA LCS. Team Liquid is the region’s undisputed heavyweight and Cloud9 is looking like the top challenger, but the other eight teams are either 3-3 or 2-4. That should lead to some pretty even spreads, yet that’s not what we’re seeing from the oddsmakers. Only one game is classified as a relative toss up, as they continue to think teams will separate themselves. I think that’s a mistake, especially now that we’re experiencing big changes on Patch 9.3, and I’m loving the underdogs this week.

League of Legends NA LCS Spring 2019 Week 4 Betting Odds

Team SoloMid -180

OpTic Gaming +145

TSM’s brand and reputation continue to make the team a sizable favorite even though they have been one of the worst performers this year. TSM went 0-2 last week with losses to Cloud9 and Golden Guardians, and the latter result was incredibly disappointing. They were heavy favorites against Golden Guardians and had Urgot and late game Sivir, but they were wrecked by Karthus and Ezreal. Those two champions combined for 23 kills and led Golden Guardians to a comeback win.

There are just too many concerns with TSM. Broken Blade and Akaadian haven’t been particularly great as new additions, and Zven has only proven himself on Ezreal. OpTic doesn’t have the same star power, but I love them at this price.

Team Liquid -560

Golden Guardians +405

Liquid are the only undefeated team left in the region, and they have only been tested a couple times. For the most part, Liquid have jumped out to a big lead against an opponent and then snowballed that into a victory. There really haven’t been any hiccups as CoreJJ has been the support that someone like Doublelift has needed for a long time, and Jensen has been a force in the mid lane too with an 11.8 KDA on strong laning champions.

I understand this line given Liquid’s form, but new patches lead to new strategies, and it can take even the best teams a bit of time to adjust. Golden Guardians could have something up their sleeve since this is their first match of the week and I expect them to do something unorthodox in pick and ban.

Cloud9 -220

Echo Fox +180

I hope you’ve been with me on the Cloud9 bandwagon. It never made any sense for Cloud9 to be placed on the backburner with four of five starters returning from last year to continue to work with head coach Reapered, and they have clearly been the second-best team in the region. Sneaky has popped off on Ezreal to the point that team’s really need to continue banning the champion away from him, and Licorice and Nisqy have been solid in their lanes.

Cloud9 are the only favorites I like this week. Even though Fenix has been somewhat surprising with a few off-meta picks in the mid lane, that won’t be enough to stop C9 in their tracks.

100 Thieves -145

FlyQuest +120

People are still too high on 100 Thieves as well. The Thieves have one their last three games, but they haven’t defeated anyone of note, and they have not had good play from the mid lane or the jungle. Neither Huhi or Anda has been particularly impressive, and they have needed to rely on Ssumday and Bang to save the day to get wins.

Meanwhile, Flyquest have been one of the biggest surprises. Santorin has been a great early game jungler on multiple champions, and Pobelter continues to facilitate in the mid lane. I like their chances this week.

Clutch Gaming -117

Counter Logic Gaming -104

This is more like it. These teams have relatively even GDM numbers per Games of Legends, and while CLG have one more win, they have been a bit fortunate too. They nearly blew leads against both Cloud9 and Echo Fox, and that inability to close out games could cost them soon. I think this is relatively even, so I’ll go with the player I think is best. PowerOfEvil has continued to shine in the mid lane, and I see him leading CLG to a win.
